The Cat’s Diary

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to
be more than willing to return. He is obviously mentally challenged.

The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe.

For now…

I have used a variation of corporal cuddling with my Ds…hugging in public come to mind

Ha ha, I have a cat and my dad is an engineer. I am forwarding this link.

bullwinkle, LOLROTF!!! That was VERY funny too!

I agree with menloparkmom - that was hysterical, Bullwinkle. Oh, and I enjoyed the video as well.

If you enjoyed this, you might also enjoy Cats in Cyberspace. Great book. Author is Beth Hilgartner.

LOL!! Thanks to both menloparkmom and bullwinkle! Classic!

I love the video, and will pass it on to my engineer/cat friends!

As someone who is owned by 5 cats, I too will pass that on. Too cute!

I’ve read that comparison bullwinkle posted in the past, and yes, it’s dang funny:D

Menlowparkmom, that was bust-a-gut funny—“cat yodeling”…“corporal cuddling”—"Oh my God!..

Following the idea of a connection between engineers and cats, there is a really nice children’s book out called “All Cats Have Asperger’s Syndrome” (by Kathy Hoopman) that uses photos of cats to describe different characteristics of Asperger’s Syndrome. And since Aspies often share many of the quirky behaviors of engineers (although somewhat more extreme), it’s probably not too surprising to make connections between all three - cats, engineers and Aspies. Tony Attwood, a well-known expert on autism, refers to cats as “autistic dogs” - like Aspies and engineers, they are just wired differently! (on the flip side, it seems like there are an awful lot of ADHD dogs in the world too!)

Funny video. I hope that apartment is a set and not where he actually lives, though. Sparse. Monk like. Maybe it’s an engineer thing. Or a male thing. Or maybe he made the video during a period of unemployment. Any moms of grown sons want to comment? Is that what all their apartments look like before they get hitched?

Mom of grown son here - I can’t imagine my son’s place ever looking that tidy!!

Cute video and the diaries are too funny. Sent them to my daughter who is a cat lover.

hummmm…I never noticed anything unusual about the apartment. Looked like the typical abode of a couple of single techy sorts.

I guess they they must have tidied up for the taping! What a funny video! I have to say that just like engineers, scientists and their kids do very similar things with their cats. When yD was in elementary school, she had an assignment to measure something in inches and convert her measurements into centimeters. Guess what she measured? The lengths of our two cats - their bodies and their tails!
