GUYS O_O Is it possible to get ACT burn out from practicing too much?

Please answer my question. My English score dropped from 33 to 26.

Yeah. It’s called stressing yourself out. Go out with friends and have some sushi. Maybe a hiking trip? You’ll do better on the test if you do that instead. Not to mention, tests are totally stupid and other things (friends and hiking trips, mayhaps?) are more important.

^ That’s a very powerful statement you’re making there, Jimbo. Sure, stressing yourself out over tests and neglecting every other aspect of your life for the sake of a test is unessential, however, your tests should still factor into your daily schedule.

You’re over-thinking it. Obviously if you got a 33, testing comes pretty natural to you. Just forget everything you’ve studied about the ACT and just DO it.

And stop stressing so much, a 33 is a great score. Next time you take it don’t put so much pressure on yourself, test anxiety is probably what brought you the 26…

Monyistbitu, I forgot I was retaking the SAT until literally a day or two before…My score went up 130 points–the only section I did worse in (Math) was the part I practiced for.

Obviously you can’t go forgetting tests all the time, but the important lesson is that your personal life is much more valuable than standardized tests: your experiences will be what stay with you, not your scores.

only on cc, haha, don’t psych yourself out. calm down and it will all be ok.

Stress is bad for cognition. Whatever you do, don’t be stressed out on the day of the test. Also, make sure you don’t try to not be stressed out because that will stress you out. You could do something like supplementing your studies with meditation if you really want to succeed, but I doubt you care that much.

Meditation via sushi with friends?
