I took AP Biology this year and finished the class with a B+. On the AP Exam, I got a 4, which is less than perfect I realize but still a decent score. Why, then, did only get a 560 on my SAT II? I took the M exam becuase that is what my teacher had focused on the whole year. However, when I began the test, I was so nervous (it was my first type of SAT ever) and i began bubbling in the wrong area! I didnt realize this until halfway through the test so I had to go back and fix all of it… by that time, I only had about 20 minutes to finish the rest of the exam (40 questions!) and I got even more nervous I couldnt even focus on the questions on hand or read the lab set ups I was supposed to analyze. It was a mess to say the least, and I know I could have done much better. Theres no excuse for a 560 for someone who took AP biology and I really dont want the colleges I am applying to to think Im ■■■■■■■■… especially since I am applying to some Ivies. Should I retake it? I know I can do better!!

You’ve just answered your own question. You’re entirely capable of doing well but mistakes and nerves led to to a bad score. So retake it.

Before you re-take, take some Yoga classes. You know the biology, you need to learn to relax.

A “5” is not a perfect score, just the highest score.

um yea definetly retake and this time do some PRACTICE beforehand so u dont go and get nervous in the test , also consider buying a prep book Namely Barrons Which Will gurantee you a 750+ if u do it right.

bump
!

Just as everyone before has said, you did poorly because you were nervous! Ok, here’s how you can remedy this. Do the following at least twice along with standard prep. Wake up at 6:30 in the morning or whenever you got up the day of your subject test. Then get ready (shower, change clothes, etc). Sit in an absolute quiet place and take the test. These conditions should resemble the acutal test day. This will help you mentally prepare for the exam. Good Luck.

You just need to get Barron’s and study.

maybe you should get kaplan’s, I noticed they have a stress management section (lol). barron’s though, is really good.

im going into highshool and i was wondering if Kaplan is the best book for the sat II for biology since im taking the Sat II in june 3 of this school year and i was also wondering would it go with princetons

i know that everyone says barrons is horrible for sat but good for the regents tests

well and i ask one more question whats the highest you can get on the sat and on the sat II?

im also taking honors biology in my freshmen year
but im taking the honors bio final and the new york state regents after the sat ii biology

i think xylem doesnt know what hes talking about you better listen to the phloem if you want to do good Use kaplans cause every or most people i heard from amazon who use BARRONS will fail barrons got a 1 out of 5 as its rating

but KAPLAN got a 5 out of 5 as its rating

^ eh I wouldn’t base everything on amazon.

Kaplan was nice and concise, but if you want to get that last 50-100 points, get Barrons

I thought Barrons and PR are both great. PR gives a quick yet very thorough review.
