I know expressing interest by contacting schools is usually a good thing…but is this true for the UC system too (Berkeley in particular)?

I was thinking that with tens of thousands of applicants, any sort of “extra” email they recieve saying how much they want to get into the school, or how qualified the applicant is, would just be an annoyance.

Right? Or are the UCs like other schools where they’ll take your interest to heart and have it be a plus on your application?

Sending an e-mail to let Admissions know how much you want to be accepted will not help or harm… don’t waste your time.
E-mails are read though (from personal experience,) so if you have a question or concern then you should send one. Or call them. From my personal experience, the Admissions Office people were very pleasant and helpful.
