Sorry if this is a repeat question, but it it ok to use a previous year’s prompt as your “Choice 5?”

Oh, and does anybody have the link to the UC essay thread?

1) I know at least one person has done it. (She got in). Is it frowned upon? I don’t know.

2) Do a search and it will come up. As another poster said, though, reading the “sample” essays might not be the best thing-- it will give you ideas about what your essay should be. These questions are what they are… there’s no set expectation on how one should answer them. Perhaps you’re best off going with your instinct and answering them the way they should be answered.

I actually emailed my regional counselor about this, she said it was fine.

I don’t know if unalove is referring to me, but yes, I did a spin-off on the mustard jar question of the previous year (essentially reworded the question) and was accepted.

It should be fine.
