This school is mental murder.

sigh
I feel so hopeless.
I go to the one of the highest ranked public schools in CA.

I look to my right and my friend has a 2100 SAT score. To my left, another kid brags about his 4.6 GPA. A third reveals his class rank, top 5%.

This school is mental murder.
My Unfortunate Stats as a Junior:
SAT 1 score- 1990 (come on, why couldn’t I get a score corresponding to a year in the future?)
Weighted GPA rolling average of 10th and 11th- 3.7 something (My school’s a B$#&%)
Class Rank- Top 30%(This is fail for any Top 100 universities I believe)
SAT II’s- Pending on June
Community Service- 160 Hours (Sucks when everyone around you has 300-500)
Clubs- Involved in 2 to a moderate degree, no officer positions ;(

Am I officially screwed to get into UC’s or school of that same caliber?

A top 30% rank is not going to murder you as long as it is not weighted, if it is unweighted you’re fine. Also, try and get high SAT II scores, and a good SAT score. Also, try and get an officer position to show leadership.

i think you still have a good chance at many of the UC’s, if not the upper ones. You’re GPA is ok, UC’s know how competitive some schools are, and that SAT 1 isn’t a disaster.
Uc’s don’t look at Ec’s anyways

There are UCs that claim they do holistic reviews of college applications. If that is the case, how can they be ignoring ECs?

You’ll get in to the lower to middle range UCs and might have a chance at the others if you raise your SAT score.

Try taking the ACT. A lot of people do better on the ACT than they do on the SAT.

try starting your own club
that way you can get a somewhat easy leadership position

Maybe retake the SATs or take the ACTs if you’re concerned. I think you have a fine chance at some of the UCs - LA or Berkeley would definitely be reaches, but you would probably have a good chance at Davis and definitely Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, etc.

what are my chances at SD and Davis because those are my top schools right now
