We have lived in NJ for most of our lives but this winter is just plain horrid. The irony is that this winter followed a very heat oppressive summer. And now comes another threat. I am remembering that historically most of our snow comes in the month of February. And we we have no space to move it anymore.

Agree, this winter has been miserable…ground has been snow-covered since 12/26…normally we get a warm up to melt the snow, but it has been brutally cold ,in addition to the twice a week snow events…let’s hope this next storm brings more rain/mix then snow…an icy mix is bad,but it does melt within a day or two

I’ve also heard that because of the snowy weather pattern that we are on, it is going to spill over in the form of major rain showers in the Spring, oh joy!

Just in time for our backyard graduation party! :(

I am lapsing into serious seasonal affective disorder territory.
There is NO place to put more snow in our area. The snow banks lining every residential street are making me anxious for the safety of our kids walking to school.

I can’t reach my detached garage in the backyard, it’s buried.

Everytime I glance out the window, it’s flurrying again! I need bright warm sun sooooo badly.

I live in southern NJ ,where we traditionally don’t get much snow. Last year was much worse in terms of volume of snow and severity of storms, and it wasn’t just during January and February. From about Oct '09 thru March '10 every storm was a nightmare and extreme…major wind, rain, snow…
This winter has been a bit rough for us , but also, last spring was BEAUTIFUL ! It came early and then burst right into summer , with few rainly days. I am hoping for a repeat of that weather pattern

I’m down in South Jersey for the weekend, and lje62 is right, much less snow here. We dread anything here because last winter and spring we were flooded–H still checks the sump pump well first thing when we come in Friday nights to see if the flooding has started again. Still dry so far, but a constant worry.

OTOH, even though it’s cold down here, I was able to take a long bike ride along the Delaware Bay yesterday; snow on the beach is just gorgeous.

This reminds me of winters in the 1960s and 1970s (Boston). Lots of very cold days and lots and lots and lots of snow. The 90s and 00s were much milder. The lack of sun does bug me too but I’ve gotten into the snow groove expecting a storm a week, ready with the shovels and snow rakes and salt. Something that helps a lot is the purchase of a number of tech gear items (meant for working out) that have kept me warm this cold winter.

I remember a March snowstorm in SW Missouri in the mid-80s. About 18 in. of snow overnight. H was on a business trip and I have memories (and photos) of my mom and I digging out the car without coats, because it was already in the 50s.

By late march, average temps will be higher so we’ll get snow melt faster. We’ve had late storms but they aren’t consistent like we’re getting now. I have a lot of ice chipping to do this afternoon while it’s above freezing.

A few weeks ago and a number of storms ago - almost countless at this stage, we had 28 inches in less than 12 hours and another of 20 inches in the same time frame. Last week we had a foot overnight and that seemed like a dusting.

I think the last snowfall was #7 for this year. And another is expected this Wednesday. I’m ready to fly the white flag! We are running out of places to put all this white stuff.
