bromfield-- we havn’t had the kind of relentless winter you guys have had. The only snow on my flat roofs is from this storm and I am seriously hoping it gets blown off by the windiness before it warms up and gets heavy.

Good luck. The only good news for you guys in New england is that it can’t last forever. Though, to you, forever probably feels like a relative term, at this point.

Just so I could get a whiff of what y’all have been going through…I’ve been out here in Central Texas busting ice in the troughs in 15 degree weather so the penned animals would have something to drink. (It was 80 four days ago.) Internet is on for the first time in 2 days. No water to the cabin (after the well guy got it pumping again, the pipes are frozen somewhere in the 1/3 mile from the pump to the cabin). It won’t be above freezing till Saturday. Oh, joy!

As you know, D went to TX go get away from our MW winters. It is cold for you Texans, but she is laughing at how her school mates from there are handling the cool weather. Her apartment mate left 30 minutes earlier than usual to get to campus 10 minutes away.

Her last e-mail said they might experience rolling blackouts, and that the locals were wishing for a snow day.

We are in the snow belt. Still snowing like crazy here. Tonight we get nasty cold, and wid chills down to -20.

No thanks. This is cold enough for me. Tonight is 11 with wind chill of -7. And that’s in the nearest city. It’s always a bit colder and windier on my little hill. Right now it is 17 with 23 mph sustained winds, gusts to 30.

^Check out this link. It’s awesome! It’s nice to see that there are still some kids who know how to have fun other than playing video games all day.

This snow is just brutal. We never had any rain, but the snow is wet and heavy. The plow had blocked the end of my driveway with what might have been the tallest, hardest mountain of snow I’ve ever had to move with the snowblower. All I could do is just take a bite out of it, back up the snowblower, and go in for more.

It was an interesting day today. Started as snow, then turned to sleet & rain, on top of the snow & slush that’s around. Then the temps rose into the high 30’s low 40’s and we got all rain - now there is major flooding on some lower lying areas, including some simple dips in the streets.

And it will be in single digits tonight, 20’s tomorrow. Love the layer of ice we’ll have on top of slush & snow.

The snow was denser today compared to yesterday. Then later in the afternoon, it turned to sleet - it was like little ice pellets. I had to come into the office for a disk; am heading back for home in a little while. No problems on the drive in as there were very few cars on the road. Did my roof during the day. This is getting tiring.

Yeah, we got the fairly heavy sleet this afternoon while I was wrestling the snow blower up and down the driveway.

Against all odds, I’ve now got my “cute little workout outfit” on. I’ve configured the barbell for deadlifts, the TRX for inverted rows, and the exercise mat, Airex pad, and interval timer for plank and side plank. Here I go… wish me luck. Split squats should perk me right up, right? :)

All you folks in the ice need to get Yak Trax. They are a necessity in the ice. You can pretty much walk across anything with them on. I got them for several people for Christmas this year.

Hmm, it’s the driving that’s the major concern around the 'burbs–no Yaktrax for the tires, are there?

Talked to my snow plow guy today, to make sure he was coming to push away the 3 inches of half-slush/half ice on the driveway before it froze solid tonight. They are having a banner year–I’ve lost count of how many times they’ve had to plow this winter. At least someone is happy about the situation!
