Those already accepted to UCD 2014!

Yes. I was just adding the English major. The “Oh” indicated I had neglected to mention it-as Eiffel perspicaciously noted :)

Oh, I’m perspicacious now, eh? Why thank you! :D

I don’t think I qualify for need-based aid because my brother is older than 24 so I am counted as an only child, though a large chunk of my parents available cash is going towards law school for him but the FAFSA doesn’t count that.

I just had to google perspicacious to figure out what was happening.

Accepted to Davis!
I live 20 minutes away from the campus
ELC, weighted GPA 4.1; unweighted 3.9 (senior year GPA 4.4)

Funny story…I decided to apply to some UC school the day of the application deadline, and in my rush to turn it in around 10pm, I accidently put Exploratory major in the College of Agriculture, haha! But hey, they accepted me. I meant to put undecided in social sciences, although now I’m looking at their animal science and psychology programs.

My grandpa has working in admin at the School of Vet Med and it’s been so lovely to be around Davis! I can’t wait! Still waiting to hear from UCLA and UMich. I wish I had applied to UCSD’s psych major.

Since you live so close, can you tell us some things about the city of Davis? Like the weather, things to do, atmosphere and such?

Of course, I’d be happy to!

Davis is definitely the typical college town. There are plenty of bikes! The town itself has Farmers Market, all kinds of little shops, and tons of things to do. The downtown area certainly revolves around the school, but there are also many places outside that have things to do. I know I went to a ballroom dance studio there and a bunch of college students came to take the classes. It’s so quaint; I really recommend visiting. If you want more of a nightlife, Sacramento is very close. They have all kinds of big name malls, Arco Arena, lots of concerts and shows. I love Broadway Sacramento!
The weather is amazing. It’s not as hot as So Cal but still very warm. You have random sunny days of 70 degrees during the winter and it barely rains or gets very cold. I don’t think it’s ever been past 30 degrees or so. This year has been particularly wet, but even that isn’t too bad.
Davis’ atmosphere is very calm. No one feels rushed or stressed. The town is very good about college kids. People are always studying in coffee shops. Since the weather is usually so nice, my grandpa often sees people doing a tai chi class on the lawn in the quad. It really is amazing!

Hey! I’ve been accepted to Davis
I’m waiting on UCSD, UCLA, UCB, Pomona College, Uni of Chicago, Brown U, Stanford, and Yale.

I applied to Davis as a Neurobiology, Physiology & Behavior major… As someone else did here.
I have a lot of friends and former classmates here who absolutely love it. So I wouldn’t mind going here if I had to :)

ELC, Animal Biology Major.

Anyone else get in as Animal Bio?

If anyone has any questions about being a student there, let me know. (PM preferred)

could you guys put your stats also???
thank you

ELC, 3.907 GPA, 1630 SAT, 25 ACT, I got in as a Political Science Major, I’m waiting for UCLA, Cal, UCSD, and UCSB

Can someone explain “ELC”

ELC means Eligibility in Local Context, it basically guarantees a student admission to a UC campus (but not exactly the campus of their choice). In order to be considered for ELC “you must complete the equivalent of 11 yearlong courses of the Subject Requirement by the end of your junior year”

UC davis is sending out admission notifications already? I thought it was mid-march. or is it just for ELC students?
congrats to everyone who got in!

@pisces8519, the atmosphere of the actual Davis campus is really boring.
I’ve been there a couple of times. Not worth it.

I like the atmosphere, and I go here. In any case, I encourage all of you to visit. Stay with someone you know here, because if you just take a student-led tour, you really won’t get the full feel of life at Davis. One thing I can say about Davis, that can’t say about any other campus I have friends at is that everyone I know really, really loves it here. That’s actually why I like it here, because it makes me happy in a positive environment :)

WINNER. Long live BME’s!

do they email you to notify you that your admissions status has changed?

@sunnybaNANA
Yes, they do. In fact, most if not all your colleges will email you. On my acceptance email last year, there was a link to a huge picture and if you looked at it too fast, you’d skip right over the part that says “Congratulations You’ve been admitted” haha

Anyone get into economics yet?
