"Those ECs are weak...."- So what's good?

People usually say depth not breath, but what if you truly are interested in a lot of things, but you just don’t have the time to devote yourself to all of these things?

Omnipotent, I think you’d have to explain why if you truly are interested in a lot of things. I’d advise to focus on the stuff you truly are interested in, I saw somewhere (can’t remember where, sorry) that colleges prefer rounded students who also excel in immensely in a subject.

Hey I’m gonna be a senior in HS, I am a CPR/AED/First Aid instructor for the Red Cross, would that be considered an “outstanding” EC? How would colleges view this particular activity?

You need to definitely get good SAT scores, but your EC’s are on the minimum side.

Posts like this make me feel incompetent at myself xD

I see a lot of posts that say I should focus in one area.

If I’m a STEM guy, does volunteering with special needs kids help?
I really hate it but my counselor tells me that I should do it.

One time I kissed Ashton Kutcher, is that an extra curricular?

Does having copious amounts of swag count?

You just have to show that you are passionate about your ECs. There aren’t specific “must-haves” on your app list.

Based on the early post listing examples of excellent extracurriculars, I’m now kind of concerned. I lived with a relative for a semester in France. I wanted to write my essay on this but now I’m unsure…?

Feedback would be appreciated.

yes, find the subject or activity you are passionate about and exploit it

Could someone give me some feedback on my EC’s?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/1532961-last-thread-about-my-ecs-promise.html

What drives you is good

Ya thats true

I agree with that

I’m thinking of starting up a Model UN (it’s rather embarrassing my school doesn’t have one yet). It’s a cliche EC, but since it’s a new club and hopefully a breakthrough to my school’s dedication to athletics, would it look good on my app? It’s also relevant to my interests.

It may be good for the school but will be good for you only if you are genuinely excited about it.
