<p>One of the seemingly top students on CC we have seen in years, Silverturtle, went to an Ivy but for personal/medical reasons withdrew in the fall on leave of absence that maintained his status to apply as a freshman the next year and he did. Even with hindsight of the last admissions cycle, he did not get accepted to the schools that rejected him the first time around. Transfer admissions are even tougher. Don’t go into your freshman year with hopes of transferring since you will not immerse yourself in your current school and will weaken that experience with little realistic chance of getting into those “absolute top choices”. Once you are at your T30 university, you will likely wonder how you could have been happier anywhere else.</p>
