Hi All - My S26 has applied for the Altman program, and I was wondering if any of you have familiarity with it and/or experiences you can share. Sounds like it’s pretty competitive to get in, but he’s excited to give it a shot and see what happens. Thanks!
I don’t know anything other than what you can read on the website. My take based on the description is that it’s a rigorous program and as you said, competitive to get in.
“Students who have a desire to focus on the interconnectedness of Business and the Liberal Arts, while being immersed in a non-English language and various cultures, should consider applying to this program.”
I would also think it’s a pretty narrow niche of students that the above description would appeal to - it’s a dual degree program so the student isn’t likely to ever have the ability to take a fluff class.
If the student saw themselves going into some sort of international business/management this program should expose them to substantial opportunities and look really good on a resume. It seems to be a cohort model - I suspect many of the core classes the cohort takes together, which can be a good or bad depending on how you get along with the other students.
Did you have specific questions?
The student can always ask the program to connect them with a student or two.
Totally agree, and that’s his plan for purposes of A) learning more and B) demonstrating an elevated level of interest.
Not sure if you saw this page - I don’t see a 24 or 25 but it’s pretty good info and you can go back years.

I looked at those cohort pictures as well and what stood out to me was the geographic diversity of the students in each. If the person is from NYC or LA they might have more competition to get into the program than if they’re from Kenosha.
Oh, the 24/25 are there - you have to scroll down off the page. The finance seem IB oriented and others normal jobs.
I think if someone has this interest, then great. But it’s almost a double major type thing - but the cohort is nice - and I imagine it has other enrichment.
It’s beyond that - it’s a dual degree program, students graduate with a BA and a BSM. I agree that it seems like a nice opportunity for someone steering in that direction already, probably lots of faculty advising and career services support as well.
I have no familiarity with the Altman program, but would like to state that it appears to be an incredible opportunity !
Thanks everyone for the input on this. He’s got his app in, and I’ll report back on how it develops from here and any info we gather along the way that can help future applicants.
Altman is an excellent opportunity! Keep us posted!
