Thoughts on CHE/CSminor to M.S. CS

I’m going to be getting a B.S. in chemical engineering, minor in computer science.

I’d like to see what you guys have to say about my prospects on getting into a solid~top CS masters program afterwards, since it’s an appealing option for me. No @ switch majors.

Minor in CS a stretch? I don’t know. If people can get a CS fortune100 interview with the minor, I feel I have a shot at getting into a MS program.

I’ll be taking 7 CS courses, so it’s not like I’m going in blind. I plan to take the core upper div CS classes we have here. That means system architecture, OS, algorithms. My free elective went to intro to AI, since we don’t have a compilers class. My grades are infinitely higher in CS-major classes (4.0 zzz) than in CHE-major classes (~3.6?), shame on me… but che is fun

Also, do you think taking web dev, databases, and another “fun” elective hurt my chances if those replaced system architecture, OS, and algorithms? Is this an obvious question? I think it might be. I’d still love to hear your thoughts, or history.

hopefully my friends don’t see this, they’ll never let me live it down :p

It should not be a problem. You might have a couple of courses to take but you have most of the basics that a Masters program in CS wants.

That’s comforting, thank you
