It must be BB gun target practice
Eons ago, kids in our old neighborhood got a hold of some illegal firecrackers sold on reservations and used those to blow up a watermelon and then a stack of yellow pages! Maybe a similar thing?
Those were the days!
My older brother was caught by cops making and throwing peach bombs from my aunts peach tree one 4th of July!
One explanation on the lower utilities might be flexing in rates for certain times of the day. Our utility companies have done all kinds of things with meters and timing over the last few years. The rate is a lot lower in the evening, so if you wash clothes or run the dishwasher after 7 pm, it makes a difference. If you fill up your swimming pool in April rather than May, it makes a difference.
You all may have just naturally done these things over the years and not realized it.
My pre-dinner Ketel One Gimlet last evening, while looking out at the harbor, was $18!!!
Geez. Note to self. Stop drinking.
It’s okay, I cashed out some of my 401k to buy it.
The latest news from the government says that inflation is easing. That’s funny, because my grocery bill keeps telling me a different story. Dairy is on the rise, so that’s another set of items to buy at Sam’s Club. I might as well just buy all my groceries there. The Sam’s Mastercard gives me 5% cash back. Ground beef at Sam’s Club is $0.20 cheaper per pound than my grocery store, and it’s organic.
My grocery bill definitely confirmed the Fed data. But I’m not buying much sodas, processed foods, etc.
I paid $6.29 for a gallon of skim milk the other day at the grocery store. Yikes. I usually get it for $3.29 - $3.99 at 7-Eleven.
Ouch!
Around $3.19/gal at Costco in Brooklyn.
It’s not like I was shopping at a Wegman’s or Whole Foods. Thankfully it’s SNAP eligible. I’m sure people that require SNAP benefits don’t feel warm and fuzzy about that price.
For us, the price of milk at HEB went from $3.19 to $3.75 in just the last 2 weeks. When that happens, it goes on the Sam’s Club shopping list permanently.
Is it skim milk from unicorns???
Interesting. I just checked my Walmart app and the great value skim milk is $2.44 a gallon. I have been noticing the last couple of months that some of my typical items have been on sale for many weeks in a row, almost like they are resetting the price lower, and I swear some regular prices of things are cheaper. But my bills vary so much week to week that I don’t pay that close attention to be sure.
I’m still nowhere close to hitting the bills from 2015-2016 when I had two teen boys at home!
