Thoughts on Khan Academy practice for NEW SAT??

I’m not sure I’ve tried it out for math not really feeling it… :-?

My older son finished the Khan program and thought it was good prep, he liked that the diagnostic quizzes eliminated going through skills he’s already mastered. Younger son is having to learn some of the math as he goes so it’s taking him longer. They’ll both be taking the officially released practice PSAT test in a timed proctored test center at the end of the month so I’ll know more about how effective Khan was.

@DasDania I’m not sure exactly what you mean by “really not feeling it” but some people learn better from books then on a computer, others learn better in classes and some really need individual tutors. You need to find what works best for you. One big plus for Khan is that it’s FREE. I advise my children to take full advantage of free and local resources first and then evaluate how to best address their specific weaknesses.

@3scoutsmom I was taking the 5 question quizzes for each subtopic like “linear inequalities” and whatnot i guess i wasted my time on some of them thus i didn’t improve much on my score because i was reviewing some subtopics I have already mastered by myself

Yes @DasDania you should start with taking the 8 diagnostic quizzes to pinpoint your areas for practice. If you do well on these it automatically fills in the little arch on the left of the individual skills once the arch is complete then you’ve mastered that skill. After the diagnostic quiz if the arch isn’t complete then you need to go back and do only those sections that aren’t complete.
