I’m interested in the Mercer Stamps Scholar Program and want to know what people think about it. How prestigious is it and would you take it over a chance at a top 50 school? What are the benefits and would it set you apart when looking for a job? Any information on it would be much appreciated.
hmmmm - if you have full need or if you don’t and it will save you zillions of dollars, I would think it’s a great program.
Mercer is a great school. I work with grads and one person’s student chose it (with merit) over Wake Forest.
it’s a good name.
Getting a job will depend on many things - major, effort, strategizing (on your part), effort (on your part), taking advantage of resources, effort (on your part), oh, and effort on your part.
That the Stamps family chose to partner with Mercer is awesome for you and the fact that you earned the scholarship is an awesome get.
If you’re concerned with doubt about Mercer as a name and I don’t know what your cost will be at an alternative school - and I don’t know your major or career goals - but I imagine it’d be hard to get a similarly solid education and experience with a better ROI.
Congrats - and good luck.
- Full Tuition and Fees
- Room and Board
- Apple iPad
- Up to $16,000 Enrichment Stipend over four years (to support Study Abroad, Undergraduate Research, Unpaid Internships, Conference Fees and Travel, etc.)
I plan on doing a political science degree and maybe doubling with economics. I would like to get an MBA after my undergrad then go on to consulting. With this information would you still consider it? My other option is UGA.
I would go to Mercer if you like it - you’re not getting an edge at UGA. You’re getting a different experience and a price.
But no matter where you go, you’re not getting an MBA directly after - unless you want it to have little value…
You’ll need to work for at least two years, if not longer, to get into a good MBA program. Reputable programs won’t take you.
I don’t know your need situation and cost at UGA but being in a small cohort with a full ride can only be helpful - great to bring up during interviews.
Best of luck.
