Thoughts on what they're looking for

I noticed from a lot of the Ivy decision threads that those CCers that held rigorous jobs (15+ hours per week) did really well. It seems like adcoms really value that now.

A lot of kids that got in were REALLY well-rounded (around 3-5 activities to which they were heavily committed). Are the days of the lopsided applicant coming to an end?

My son is pretty lopsided. He does computer related things in most of his free time - he has two school ECs, Science Olympiad and Academic Team. He does occasionally have a rigorous job - freelance programming - when there are programming deadlines. Then weeks of doing nothing as well.
