I have discussion sessions on the first two days classes begin. What happens with that? Do the TAs email you or something?

I ended up with a Music History (Mozart) class in my schedule this quarter…any comments on that? Is it a good class? Boring? Fun?

I’m a commuter and I was contemplating getting a non-residential meal plan. I go to class five days a week. Should I get a meal plan (the 5 per week one)? Are the restaurant options too limited?

Usually discussions do not meet during zero week, especially if they are scheduled before the lecture class first meets. This may be specified in the class listing in the schedule of classes, noted in the syllabus, or confirmed by the professor or the TA via mass email (sent to whatever email you set as official in URSA). You shouldn’t assume that your discussion meeting has been canceled, however, unless you see something saying that it is.

I was surprised to discover that the cost per meal in the nonresident meal plans has been higher than paying for individual meals by BruinCard EasyPay (so surprised I checked CC just to confirm, in fact). The restaurant options are limited, too, to the dining facilities in the residence halls, and they’re all quite a walk from the main campus. You may find that you don’t have the time and/or the desire to walk to the dorm area just to eat. So, a better idea might be to put money on your Bruincard via the EasyPay feature, which can be used at the dorms and a variety of other on- and off-campus dining options.
