Throwing out other people's laundry

If the washing machine has stopped, but no one is there to pick it up, are we licensed to throw out the other person’s laundry for the public good?

No-ever heard of the Golden rule.

The golden rule is “feel free to do it, but don’t complain when others do it to you” ^^

I usually give them 10-15 minutes (depending on my mood) and then take it out. And then I try to put them in a basket, if they left one in front of their machine, or pile it up nicely… so at least if golden rule karma comes and bites me in the ass, it won’t be too painful.

I lived in an apartment with a shared laundry room for 5 years and common practice was to pile their clothes on top of a machine or table and call it a day. What happens after that, missing undies and all, is up to how long it takes them to remember their clothes.

I give them 10 minutes… After that, it’s fair game. As a courtesy, I usually put their laundry in an empty dryer. 10 minutes is ample time + however long the load has been in there before you were there.

I agree 10 minutes is fair enough and trying to put it somewhere safe.

If there aren’t any free washing machines, then yes because time is precious and I’m impatient. I do place the laundry in a clean, safe place though.
