So young. How very sad. God rest him.

NBC Special Report on now…

He was only 58 years old. Very sad.

right before Father’s Day too.
I bought his book on parenting, one year for H for Father’s Day, my own dad died on June 16th, 33 years ago.

He will be missed.

oh, how sad.here is a link to the very brief NYTimes.com article:

[NBCs Tim Russert Dies - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times Blog](<a href=“NBC's Tim Russert Dies - The New York Times”>NBC's Tim Russert Dies - The New York Times)

Oh wow… a huge loss. My sympathies to his family & colleagues. And to those of us who watched and admired him.

What a shock! My husband and I watched his show, Meet The Press, every Sunday morning. Our condolences to his family.

I turned on CNN a few minutes ago and saw this. How very sad.

Russert was a great guy. I loved the way he’d always give shout-outs to the Buffalo teams at the end of the show.

I just heard it on the radio. This is too bad and quite a shock.

How sad! (10 char)

We’re in shock at our house. We watched every week. My younger son went through a necktie phase, and he’d talk to Tim on the TV, telling him that his (my son’s) knot was better.

Russert was class in every sense of the word. I grew up in Buffalo and about the same age so I felt a connection to what he stood for. Even though I am a Republican. A funny story I was at a New York airport after a long flight back from Japan. Just got into my car and out of the corner of my eye saw a famous face of a reporter searching for his ride. I pulled up and said Tim do you need a ride, to my shame it wasn’t Russert it was Chris Matthews, he laughed when I said gee if I knew it was you given your views I would not have stopped. He told Tim the story and when I saw Tim a couple years later in Washington we shared a laugh. My best wishes to the Russert family.

Russert died just after returning from a family trip to Italy to celebrate his son’s graduation from Boston College… somehow that factoid really got to me.

Remember Russert’s invaluable commentary during the 2000 election?

He was a wonderful journalist, and, from all appearances, a wonderful son, husband and father.

What a shame…in shock…

I think Russert represented everything right in journalism. Although he was a Democrat, he questioned his Democrat guests just as hard as he questioned Republican guests. For example, I remember when Al Gore appeared on the show to discuss issues including abortion. Russert asked him “When does human life begin?” Gore quickly avoided the question and Russert made him look like an idiot.

He was one of the few good interviewers on television, who tried to prevent his guests from dodging and ducking tough questions. When he did this, people mistakenly thought he was taking sides, but actually he was just doing his job- being a tough interviewer. He was tough and firm with all his guests.

I was looking forward to him asking tough questions of Obama and McCain in the fall campaign. We lost Peter Jennings and Tim Russert way too early and each of them was irreplaceable.

^^^^ this is a bad Friday the 13th. Shocking news- his son graduated BC last week, a family vacation to Italy, and last week took his beloved father to “facility”- clearly high stress levels. Right before Father’s Day.
