Tim Russert Has Died

Very good point! Especially for this message board community where many seem to be highly focused on a college’s name recognition and prestige. Tim Russert was a great example of a college experience being what a student, him/herself, makes of it.

Unlike most urban colleges, even Jesuit institutions, John Carroll has always had a strong commitment to confronting inner-city poverty, with strong involvement of both students and faculty. I’m sure that would have rubbed off on Russert in his early career.

Did you see Tims’ son Luke on the Today Show this morning? What an incredibly poised, well spoken young man! I pity the kids competing against him for future jobs or grad school slots.

missypie, how proud Tim would have been!!! My 13yo and I watched him and were so impressed with his poise and graciousness. I loved the way he spoke so highly of his mom, too, saying his dad knew he was “playing up.” LOVED that.

What a wonderful young man! I can only imagine the joy Tim and his wife feel for their son. I believe Luke and his mom will miss Tim terribly but will relish his life and do something wonderful in his honor.

“Big Tim”:

A beer or two is one of nature’s best social lubricants. I was watching a show last night about people who create new companies. The CEO said one thing he tried to do once a month was take the staff out for drinks and that’s how he found out what was really going on.

The Today Show mentioned that there will be a wake for Tim Russert at Luke’s secondary school in Washington D.C today. The family wanted the wake to be open to the public. Luke’s classmates will be pallbearers. The funeral will be private, but there will be a public memorial at the Kennedy Center tomorrow that wll be televised by MSNBC - I believe it will be shown at 4:00pm. If I were more computer savvy, I’d include the link from the Today Show!

I know that NBC has been pretty much all Tim all the time, but I’m so glad of it. Several of our attorneys have passed away suddenly in the prime of life…their offices are cleaned out, their files assigned to someone else, and life goes on with few words. I hate that. I like it when people talk about their beloved departed.
