Time for a new hairdresser?

I’ve been seeing the same hairdresser for several years now and am pretty happy with her efforts. She is the sister of one of D’s friends. A few weeks ago she hired D as a part-time receptionist for the summer. D went several days for training (unpaid) then started working about 20 hrs/week. The second week her paycheck bounced. Today the owner called her and let her go saying some clients had voiced complaints about her.

I’m feeling like I should find a new hairdresser, but I hate having to change once I find someone I’m fairly happy with :(. I only go 2-3 times a year as it is.

Is your hairdresser the owner? If so, no way would I go back. Sounds like there is trouble at the salon and the owner isn’t being honest. If your hairdresser is not the owner, you can still go to her if your contact with the owner is mininimal. Cuz I would be hoping mad :)

If your hairdresser is the one who hired your D and is responsible for the finances of the salon, I would absolutely stop going to her. IMO, continuing to see her would be like thumbing your nose at your D, especially after she was mistreated (unpaid training, bounced pay check, termination which may have been due to finances instead of complaints)

I would say no, and not just for the way your D was treated ,if it really was the D was not measuring up you don’t do it after a couple of weeks, that is lame, and if she fired her because of financial problems, she should have been honest about it…among other things, if they treat employees like that, how will they treat clients? I would be worried about a shop in trouble cutting corners, not replacing the fluid they use to keep cutting implements clean, cheaper hair colors (if you get it colored), etc…

If someone treated my D like that, I would find a new hairdresser. There are plenty of good hairdressers out there, but only one of your D.

So will your d ever get paid for her work? Will she contact her state’s department of labor? http://www.moneytalksnews.com/2012/01/11/your-paycheck-bounced-what-now/

I wouldn’t go back to the hairdresser.

Don’t go back–it’s a bad situation all around. You can find a new stylist. Your daughter was treated poorly. That’s not right.
