Time for a new refrigerator

Our local appliance store once sent someone in the middle of the blizzard to fix my stove, I went in there prepared to just buy a new one. I’ve been a loyal customer ever since! (Since I remodeled my kitchen and added a 2nd floor laundry, they got a good bit of business from me!)

When we remodeled we had to get a slide-in down draft stove and cooktop so that pretty much meant Jennair. (My husband says I was happy with that requirement for sentimental reasons; my mother always had Jennair.) Anyway, because the Jennair stove was a requirement we got the matching dishwasher and refrigerator. The fridge has a lot of the features that seem to be disliked on this thread. Counter depth, French door, water and ice through the door, freezer on the bottom. I love it all. I couldn’t have chosen better features if I had known what I was looking for, which I didn’t. I especially like the full width drawer which can and does hold whatever odd size thing is required: a casserole, 2 pies, my son-in-law’s beer, a platter of deviled eggs.

I think Jennair is now owned by Whirlpool.

My SIL is doing a major remodel of her kitchen and just told me she is getting a Jennair French, counter depth fridge. While she is not getting ice in the door, she chose Jennair because it made the smallest ice!! Because she is doing such a huge remodel, working with a designer and moving all appliances from their original location, I was surprised she didn’t work in a full sized fridge. She does has a second in her basement, so she will have the room, but with the work and money she is putting into the kitchen, I was just surprised.

My husband and I went by the model home at our new townhome complex to see how the refrigerator looked. They used a counter depth, but my husband really wants to use a full size; we have the room. I am just not sure I like the way it will look sticking out; that said, ours was not a counter depth at the old house, nor is it at the apartment. If I knew with 100% certainty I could put a second fridge in the garage, I would go with counter depth, but with my husbands tools and such, I am not sure until we get moved in if there will be room for a second fridge. Decisions decisions!
