Is taking the test again in a month too soon?

In general, how long do students wait before attempting to take again?

If you wait too long, you might forget what was already learnt, so the decision is very confusing.

My friend took the SAT in Oct and scored a 2000, then, he took it again in Nov. and got a 2000 too.

I really think it depends on your learning abilities. I waited 2 months and ended up doing worse But I think it really depends on how much you study. If you study more it’ll help, if you study the same amount, you’ll probably do better too, but if you study less, or don’t study at all, that’ll definitely not help you.

Silverstone100, thanks for your reply.

I am afraid about the the same thing, if you have longer gap and cannot keep up the preparation (with so much other studying going on for regular school work), it might lower the score.

If you had chance to redo the same event, what would you do differently?

Basically what advice would you give to someone who has taken it first time in Dec. (score 2200+) and thinking of giving it again in January. Goal is to reach 2300+.

Any other opinion on this?

Thanks.

I am doing the same thing (score was 2200+, trying for 2300+ in Jan). I think it was just not normal for me to get such a low score on reading/math… So I will just be doing practice sections daily, reading DH, and take a full test on Saturdays.

Honestly I think it’s just my fault for not studying enough, or rather, studying the wrong way. I’m planning on taking the March SAT now (because I’m taking subject tests in January). This time I’m making a plan for myself. ie: review vocabulary and grammar rules during the school week and a full test on Sunday. Last time, I was all over the place: doing a few sections during the week at like 10pm, after I finished my homework, then not concentrating on Saturday when I was doing a full test. I realized that, if I don’t put myself in a testing zone, then I can’t concentrate. So this time I’m going to the library to study and take a full test.

But YEAH me too… I got a 2200+ and wanted a 2300 and uh yeah I ended up with a 2100+ so… this time I have to make sure I study extra hard :/

I think taking it the next month is fine, as long as u study hard. For example:

Oct = 2250
Nov = 2400
Canceled my december test :P

thanks everyone for replying.

We are still deciding if my D should take Jan or March. Also a friend told us that March test might be harder. Other threads in CC indicate that this should not be the case, but did post a question just to get some fresh opinion.

Will definitely update the thread after we decide and what was the result of this decision.
