Time Share vacation option

A few years ago I used a friends membership to a site which allows you to purchase some one’s unused time in a time share for the price of their annual maintenance dues. It was some sort of three letter name, like RRR, but I cannot recall it and have lost contact with the work friend.

Any one have any experience with this or anything like it? We got a great week in a Mexico beach resort and paid only a few hundred dollars which we could afford rather than the expensive fees others paid.

Could it have been IIR (Interval International Resorts)?

Could it have been RCI?

Don’t know, but DH and I bought a week from someone that we knew who had a time share in Barbados. She sold us the week for $500 total (this was many years ago). The resort’s suite had kitchen so we were able to eat some meals in our apartment/hotel suite. This trip was a bargain for us, and it was a wonderful, memorable vacation! We have not been able to duplicate this, so I would love the info!

If you like Aruba and want to rent a timeshare there try one of these sites

I think it was RCI, but i guess you have to be a member to access the extra vacations & you have to have a time share to be a member :(

I will check out these others, looking for the cheapest safe option for some college seniors to have a January adventure with a long winter break this year, but they are on a budget, so need to scrimp

I really like cyberrentals, a website on which owners advertise their vacation homes/condos. You can get all the important info, plus pictures (and often guest comments). We rented a house on Cape Cod that way, and I was extremely pleased. You can communicate directly with the owner.

You can also go to redweek to find timeshares for rent. Sometimes the prices are great. There are other websites, too, that can be found through an internet search. I will caution about timeshares, though … if you find one that interests you, do some searching to find feedback about the resort. We have been to several RCI resorts through my in laws’ timeshare guest program, and I researched them on the RCI website. We were very pleased with each of the resorts we visited … my SIL, OTOH, didn’t do research & ended up at a real dud (she ended up paying for a hotel on top of the timeshare).

Try [Timeshares Only](http://www.timesharesonly.com/) or VRBO.com

Try tug2.net You do not have to be a member to post on the forum but do do have to be a member in order to access the timeshares for rent/sale and I believe membership is $15. This also gives you access to reviews which are quite useful also.

For best selection, I second vrbo.com, tug2.net, or tug1.net. I ended up getting a great deal on ebay. Marriott called us this week and they have a deal for $299 which is 4 nights during high season, but you have to sit through a 90 minute presentation. Details are on their web page.
