It’s the weekend… our last weekend of ignorance… dang

Hey manderz, i went to your page. When did you go to NSLC? I went from June 21-July1, and I did the US Policy & Politics program.

manderz…i think on another post somewhere i agreed with you. i have submitted to the exploitation of where i come from… oh and the only reason i wouldnt say i was from irvine or san clemente is because there are creepy people on the internet who can find you and…

i guess its better to be broad?

^ Ever read Cat’s Cradle?

Vonnegut puts forth that people try to be as broad as possible in their descriptions of where they come from in hopes of trying to identify with a broader cross section of people. If you say, for example, “I’m from McKinney, a suburb outside of Dallas” you are going to get a lot fewer people lighting up with recognition than if you say “I’m from Dallas”. So soon where you come from becomes broader and broader until it’s simply “I’m an American” and that group that you claim to belong to and that others also claim to belong to forms a false brotherhood of people who just want to feel connected somehow.

interesting book.

babybird, I understand that, I just LOOOOVVEEE it when people call it the OC. It’s the greatest, and people know right away.
