Please chance me. Will chance back

those all look good… washU, JHU, CMU are probably all a bit of a reach since they are for the majority of people, you never know what can happen. For the UCs you should be good maybe a little reach at berkeley. Other than that you look good. CHance me please!

you should also consider Mudd a reach.

CMU, Mudd, WashU and maybe Berkley are reaches. But you have a good shot. The only thing that might keep you out of the non-UCs is your lack of ECs related to CompSci, but you could get in.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/949308-chances-anything-improve.html

Will the IT camp counts ? It’s a tech camp. Besides I am launching a facebook page for the volunteering program so that parents can get updated info and sharing of ideas on the computer ?

GPA is weak and SAT reasoning could use a retake to compensate for that, and your ECs don’t seem particularly strong (making a facebook page is not impressive), but being in-state for the UCs will probably get you in to Berkeley and UCLA, with JHU and NYU being more reachy.

You’re not going to apply to Carnegie Mellon?

How much more is Billabongboy9828 are looking for if 2200 and 2 perfect score on satii not enough to compensate for the gpa ?

A 2200 is going to be only a little higher than the 50th percentile for the schools you are looking at. Go check out the scattergrams on Naviance or ************** to give you a good idea of the concrete stats kids have. And besides, to compensate for a 3.8 Weighted GPA that will considerably hinder your chances of admission for these top schools, you are going to want at least a mid 2200/34. Work hard over the summer and hope to pull a 35 on the September ACTs.

i agree with billabongboy except if your test scores are too high schools will think youre lazy…

Why ? I have valid reason why gpa not 4.0. I am not trying to make excuse. The fact that I standback up and improve my grade every semester not eough to convince them ?
I have 4.12 overall in my junior year

ok many people improve consistently but your scores just make it seem like youre smarter than youre overall gpa thats all

And what would that reason be?

You don’t seem to have taken many AP or honors courses, so you shouldn’t really have many non-As at all. And a 4.12 is unfortunately not even close to being impressive.

Billabongboy, I accept your valuable input. I’ll apply to Carnegie Mellon also. I consider myself intelligent. Unfortunately, I can’t change my gpa. Will they consider what I am going to take in my senior year ?

Yes, from what I understand, CMU has one of the best computer programming programs in the country. If you ED there (and manage to do the things that people in this thread have suggested you do), I think you will have a decent shot.

And yes, colleges do look at the classes you are taking senior year as well as your first semester grades.

Your CR and W scores on the SAT are dragging you down a little, but for schools like Harvey Mudd, that 800 M will look pretty attractive.

You mean I have pretty good shot at it ? How about u of southern california ?

I’m saying that you should take the SAT again and hope to boost the CR and W to something more comparable to Harvey Mudd, but as one of the top engineering schools in the country, it will like that you have an 800. I’m not very familiar with USC but their SAT scores aren’t as high as some of the other schools on your list

I think I can manage to get up to 2250-2270. However I recall a member earlier commenting my high scores on sat1 and satII might have an adverse effect on some school guessing that I was lazy for not taking more challenging AP/honor classes in school. So, my low gpa 3.73/3.80 doesn’t fall in line with high SAT scores ? Confusing and
a bit puzzle ?

Oh ! I forgot to mention, I did work two summers for my mom’s insurance office doing customer service. Does it counts towrd internship on my admission application since this has nothing to do with my intended CS major ?

Further, anyone knows if UC accepts ED ?

Anyone can answer my last question ? Please help ? I need as much info for me to move on. thanks Will chance back
