time to register / put down deposit for housing at Tulane- not certain my son will attend yet!

Local son who is a H.S. Senior (we live in NOLA) has been accepted to Tulane for Fall. However he’s still waiting to hear back from another University he also applied to re: admission. So he’s not definitely attending Tulane. Got letter from Tulane indicating its time to put down deposit for DORM? If he attends Tulane he will stay in dorm- so to cover all bases we’re thinking of putting down deposit to secure a spot if he needs it. anyone know how much deposit is?? should this be done ASAP? THX For any advice anyone has to offer on which dorms are best!

If I remember correctly its $500 but you don’t have to do that yet. They can’t actually put in for dorm selection until May or June? You have plenty of time!

@Nolafied, I had a similiar question here and received some good input:

Except that this housing deposit at this time in no way guarantees anything. It’s not to secure a spot in any dorm, maybe @fallenchemist can weigh in but I think it’s just more so that the school can get a feel for who will be committing. Actual housing requests takes place in the spring.

@dolphnlvr6‌ is 100% correct. There is no hurry. It just helps Tulane get a sense of who is truly committing to the school.
