Timeline of Waves

Yesterday, USC sent out a wave. They will send out another one next friday.

I’m not trying to argue with you, just looking for some info. How come it seems not that many people received anything? Especially those near Southern Cal. I saw some people who’s letter were postmarked the 16,17,and 18 but not the 19 which was yesterday.

^yeah ***'s going on lol

Oh lol sorry, I just got off my flight. Kind of still disoriented from the plane ride.

I really do not know the answer to that question. But it may be that USC finished the batch of acceptances earlier this week so it’s postmarked on the 18th and not 19th.

As for why not many people received acceptances, I truly do not know, but I do know that USC is admitting less people this year than last year.

Unless someone is actually a member of the USC admissions team, they should be careful making absolute definitive statements here. From what I’ve ascertained (in my obsessive research here) things change a tiny bit every year (other than the scholarship wave). For all we know, something is different again this year. Actually, things are clearly already different - for example, the “forwarded” status is new this year, as is the absence of date stamps on statuses. If there was a wave mailed yesterday, it seems to have been a tiny one. And there have already been people who’ve received acceptances outside of clearly distinct waves. For all we know, the big third wave goes out Monday. Or Tuesday. Or perhaps there won’t even be a distinct third wave.

So again, unless you work in admissions, be careful to state things as fact. It causes more anxiety than it relieves. Try to throw in a qualifier or two, like “in past years” or “from what I’ve seen…” It’s only fair.

haha there is no point in arguing over the internet. Just pointless.

but @applewater and @jazz/shreddermom thanks for your input. Very informative.

ugh… we just want to KNOW!!! This is dragging on way too long!

Let’s assume the USC mail person was late yesterday afternoon, so a huge batch went out today instead. Then we could see the “wave” coming ashore early next week. That’s as good a theory as any…don’t you think?

“How come it seems not that many people received anything?”

because there are a total of ~20 USC applicants on CC & that’s maybe not a large enough sample size to make definitive judgments on? ;}

applewater - are you a student, parent, or do you work for USC? You sure have some definite statements about what’s supposed to be going on.

EVERYTHING is speculation.
I think each of us know that and therefore take every bit of advice with a grain of salt
Its very unlikely a USC employee will come up on this forum and give us advice and therefore most of the users are parents or students of hopeful or either accepted USC students.
And we say that its a tiny wave because usually CC has a higher mean than the rest of the population and therefore we expect a higher average of people to get in.
We don’t see many people posting that they got in today and none of my friends have got one either (talking about my rather smart friends  hehe)
so i really want to know if anyone got anything postmarked Friday March 19th.

There is no definite answer. What I am telling you is from past experience. And I’m a student.

Now if I worked for USC, I think I’d be giving out admission to you all b/c of your eagerness to attend USC.

yeah, really. if u take anything written on any of these boards as fact [unless provided proof], then that’s your problem, lol.

Duh - I knew people on here don’t work for USC admissions. My point is that unless someone has specific insider info, they should stop be know-it-alls and stick to actual facts. Or, admit they are just guessing.

haha! If we were to

there would be NOTHING on the College Confidential USC forum, instead of the 95,663 posts on 8,404 topics! I think about 3/95,663 have been based on “actual facts!”

AppleWater is giving you information from personal experience - and that is the best information available at this point.

^lol, exactly, alamemom : P

Exactly, if you don’t want to know any information about the waves, then you can just wait it out until you either get your acceptance or rejection. It’s up to you if you want to take the information to heart, but this is all based on personal experience.

So basically if I haven’t heard back by now (late march) this is a bad sign? I called up on Friday and the admissions officer that I reached informed me that my application is still under reviewed and no decision has been made.

a large portion of the acceptances are yet to come  hang in there, many of us are still waiting

I feel like I am in “forwarded purgatory” and I don’t even know if being forwarded is a good sign.
