<p>So I went to a conference this week and our hotel was hosting a large conference of southwest public and private universities and colleges. Spoke briefly with someone from one of the CSUs. As I predicted, he confirmed that they expect a larger number of UC and CSU applicants this cycle. That as California will undoubtedly be facing budget cuts.
The privates are expecting smaller numbers as people are worried about the economy and financing a private school education.
On related note, I’m wondering what the job market will look like when my current college junior graduates.</p>

<p>If he’s a junior, make sure he has an internship lined up for this summer. The ability to get an internship might be a predictor of the job market going forward. There are many analysts calling for the recession to end by 2009 Q3 given the amount of stimulus worldwide. That’s just a prediction by some and we’ll see what happens.</p>
