On the SAT, I usually can boil down questions to ~2-3 choices for reading. However, it is so hard to pick between the two!!! When i finally figure it out, time is about to run out and I have to rush through the rest of the section. Is there any method you guys have for improving timing and more “correct guessing (especially on Cr)”?

Your advice will be much appreciated.

First of all, you have to believe (because it’s absolutely true) that every passage question has only one answer that is 100% correct and every other answer is 100% incorrect. If you’re choosing between 2 choices, take one of them, and find evidence for it from the text. If there is no evidence, then it is 100% incorrect. If there is evidence for EVERY PART of the answer, then it is 100% correct.

There are a lot of little guessing strategies, but you really shouldn’t have to guess. What RR suggests (which works wonders for me) is to spend an average of 1 minute per passage question. That means if you have 17 minutes to complete 13 passage questions (which occurs if you spend 30 seconds on each vocab question in the CR section that has 19 total questions), you should only spend 4 of those minutes reading the passage. Don’t bother absorbing facts, because you can–and must-- refer back to the passage when trying to find evidence for the answer choices.
