I wanted to created this thread after getting raped by my lack of not knowing that much vocabulary. Hence, this thread exists to prepare students ahead of time.

Tip #1:

Do not wait until the day before to study.

Nice…advice that I should have probably heeded this year.

I actually remembered what Broca’s area is!

Don’t talk too much about the specifics of the Exam but hahaha nice :P

and yeah, I guess I’m the only good kid here on CC because all I’m hearing is “omg what do i do i have to start studying” on the day before. I started in February haha :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ap-tests-preparation/928834-tips-each-subject-ap-graduates.html

AP Psych was my first A.P. exam, and it happened to be self-studied. I don’t know how people get a 5 on this just by reading it the day before… maybe prior knowledge? I started two weeks in advanced and took about 7-8 practice tests. A lot of the questions on the tests were repeated in some form so… TAKE PRACTICE TESTS!

I got a tip

Don’t listen to people when they talk how easy the test is you need to study alot to pass

I agree. You really need to learn the vocabulary to do well on this test. In all honesty, I’d say that Environmental Science was a lot easier than Psychology, but maybe I’m biased since I’m naturally good at science so who knows.

Know the vocabulary and you’re bound for at least a 4.

vocab vocab vocab… this is just a big vocab test.

^ you didnt know that?

If your AP Psych class is a joke (like mine) that doesn’t mean the AP test is. Yeah, it wasn’t suicide-inducing difficult, but you do need to know the information.

OMG I HAVE A GOOD ONE

Use chunking to help memorize your vocab terms.

The thing is, you can’t possibly learn all the vocab. This years exam taught me that there’s always something obscure that they can pull out that your teacher won’t cover, review books won’t cover, practice quizzes/tests won’t cover.

If I were to do the test again I would study with other resources besides my textbook, as it doesn’t cover all the material needed for the exam.

The test is so easy BECAUSE it’s all vocab. There’s no real thought to it, you are just being tested over whether you took the time to memorize the terms. The hard exams are not like this. Take AP Chem or AP Physics C, for example. You have to know a lot of terms and things, but you also have to be able to apply them with an open mind. Even some classes like AP Euro have these qualities.

AP Psych, on the other hand, is not like this. Know the terms, and you will be fine for the MC. Be able to define the terms, and you will be fine for the FRQ.

If you know the vocabulary, you are pretty much set for a 4-5.

My advice is don’t be worried about AP Psychology… worry about your other AP’s.

As many people have said before on CC (and I will reiterate), Psychology is the biggest joke in the world. Most people say study one day before the test and you will get a 5. If you study two days, you are most definitely fine :)

^ I strongly disagree with the last two sentences. I actually started covering the material last tuesday and finished on thusday and reviewed sunday. It was a pain. Please, save yourself some trouble and tension and just start 1 month before the exam. That will be ample time to cover all the material and have them cemented in your brain (which was why I was freaking out about the FRQs, because I didn’t have them cemented in my head.).

It’s not all “common sense” like you would assume. In fact, lots of the concepts are counter-intuitive.
