I am going through the application process for the top BS! This is a very exciting(but daunting) process. If anyone has any tips for the interview, SSAT, or essays, please post!(or share your personal experience with the application process)
SSAT- study quizlet vocab, reading you kinda have to wing it, math I’m assuming your school should cover the topics. Take practice tests.
Interview- ask questions, have confident posture, smile, be relaxed
Essay- be unique
Thanks for the tips!
What is “the Top BS”? I’m thinking that’s a bit subjective
The top boarding schools are the ones who choose YOU!
@preppedparent Too very true!!! I’m amazed, though, at how many come into this process thinking they are applying to “the best”… and I think we were somewhat guilty of it, as well, …only to find out that what the general public touts as the best…really isn’t “the” best…and definitely isn’t for every person, even some of the smartest ones. I am still kind of curious though, what the OP thinks is “the top”…
agree @buuzn03 Like most things re boarding schools, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
My advice, and I’ve gone through this three times (with two kids, one who transferred her Junior year) is to disabuse yourself of the notion that there is such as thing as “the top BS” and also that “they” are all located in New England.
Instead of thinking “the best”, think in terms of “the best for you”. And don’t fool yourself, no matter how good your stats are, your chances of getting into the most selective (now that at least is an objective descriptor) are not that good.
Also, if you haven’t read this, you probably should:

Use the search tool, also…there is PLENTY of existing information to be mined on all the topics you mention.
