Tips for (P)SAT long term studying?

Well actually I’m not entirely sure if a year is considered long term. I’m a sophomore. I took the SAT for CTY when I was in seventh grade and got a 630 in math, 540 in critical reading, and 470 in writing (vomits). I took the PSAT this year and got a 80 in math, 67 critical reading, 68 writing. I think my math is good enough for an 800 but my critical reading and writing need much improvement. I have critical hits and I’m about to start making flashcards. Any tips on making these words more memorable? I was thinking maybe drawing absurd pictures so they stick. Also is there any way I could start improving my essays? Any other tips that would well prepare me for the SAT if I start preparing now?

try to use the words in sentences and use them in your writing, this is what helped me remember a lot of the words. personally i noticed that a lot of the more strange sounding words stuck with me, like “didactic.” besides that, i guess it’s just about having a good memory. for essays, just practice writing as much as possible. there’s really aren’t any magic secrets or tips to doing well on the SAT. its just like anything in life, the more you practice, the better you will get

OP,

I suggest you look up Michael Clay Thompson books for language curriculum (level 4-6). They do not prepare for SAT directly, but indirectly they do while at the same time they will increase your grammar, reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.

I used this books for my son, and not only they improved his SAT scores, but they also improved his overall language arts skills.

He is now considered grammar king in his 9th grade honors English class and this is the first year he takes honors language arts class. He was not allowed to take honors English in middle school.
