Tips for reading and science

So I took the ACT in June and received a 29 (31E, 33M, 26R, and 25S). I was hoping for a 30 or higher, but I really can’t complain with a 29. But I’m afraid that I won’t be accepted into schools such as University of Michigan (in state), Chicago, Duke, Johns Hopkins, and such. I have an excellent GPA (3.96 UW, 4.54 W) and currently I’m pursuing the IB diploma (already got a 7 on IB 20th SL test). So I’m looking at the scores and it looks like I can raise my English and math by a couple more points if I pay attention and review a bit more, but reading and science seems to kill me because they both require me to look back at the information and pick out the answer quickly, which I’m not great at. So any tips would be appreciated!

In science, don’t read the paragraphs before looking at the questions. Look at the questions and then refer to the graphs or paragraphs that are referenced in the question.

I agree with nhdmaniac. Do not read the paragraphs. I skip the paragraphs, identify the info on the graphs, and go straight the questions.
