<p>Figure out the mission of the organization sponsoring the scholarship. For instance, if it’s sponsored by a corporation or professional organization, presumably their mission is to support and encourage top students to enter their field. Then, make sure that your essay reflects the values and mission of the sponsoring organization.</p>
<p>For instance if you’re asked to write an autobiographical essay for a scholarship sponsored by an engineering company, highlight your interest in the hard sciences, not your sensitive, quirky side.</p>
