Tips from nonfreshmen?

What advice would you offer freshman in order to succeed academically? Any help would be much appreciated :).

Go to class, do the homework (lab reports, papers, etc.) and do it on time. Good time management skills will help you suceed academically.

don’t stretch yourself thin. it might not seem like much now, but when you start having papers due and prelims, things will seem hectic. just join one or two activity for now, and if you feel you can take on more, then you can.

go to office hours with your books/notes, have an outline of the main topics discussed in class, and ask the professor what is important and what isn’t. they will not only appreciate that you came prepared and not just going to ask them “what’s on the test” but will be much more amendable to you. they’ll tell you “oh, this is important, be sure you pay close attention” or “just go over what I said in class, you don’t need to know anything deeper.”
