Tips on Riding the T

I’ll need to get to Back Bay Station, and I’ll be riding the T, Green Line, to Copley Station. I’ll have luggage with me, and I’ll probably get on St. Mary’s Street Station. When are the least crowded hours? Will my luggage be a problem on the T? And I know it’s not that far, but how early should I get on the T, since I’ll need to be on time to get on Amtrak?

It depends entirely which day of the week you talking about. Usually on weekdays it is busy 7-10am for the AM rush but on Saturday/Sunday you should have no problem during those hours. PM rush usually is from 4-7pm but its also crowded during those hours on the weekend. I’ve never had a problem getting on with my luggage especially if you are taking the C line at St. Mary’s Street.

I would seriously advise taking a cab if I were you. It won’t set you back more than $15 and maybe well worthwhile if you have several pieces of luggage. Keep in mind if you take the T you have a three block walk from Copley Station to Back Bay Station. I usually arrive at Amtrak 20 minutes before my train to be safe so leaving 45 minutes should be fine just in case there are any unexpected delays.
