I had to look up Brie - I thought it was matzoh with cheese!

I heard a story on NPR about Matzolah . Has anyone tried this?

nj2011mom-
the reason for all the complaining is that we need things to complain about!

In all seriousness, all the complaining is just silly and your menu idea is perfectly fine. I think it’s the inconvenience of it all. You have to change your habits for an entire 8 days. People in general do not like change. This is forced change.

Had matzoh brie for dinner last night. Delish!

It’s not spelled “brie,” like the soft cheese, but “brei.” Rhymes with “rye.”

VeryHappy–I was just about to post that!

I eat lower carb these days and thus Passover is less of a hassle. Concentrate on fresh fruits & veggies, meat & cheese, (instead of packaged cakes & mixes) and you can have a lovely and healthy week. Though matzo brei on Sunday morning is still a tradition!

And whole wheat matzo IS good with butter, cream cheese, leftover haroset…

The hard part is if you don’t have food and you go to the cafeteria or grocery store and then have to leave as there’s not much there that you can have for the week. There’s already a bunch of stuff that I don’t eat because of my dietary approach so this is a further restriction. My wife will make me anything that I want but that requires a little more planning.

Love the youtube, VH, and the recipes, bookreader. I admit that while we have lots of recipes for matzo kugel, passover rolls, etc, I am a purist and do love matzo with butter and salt (she says, taking a bite and dropping crumbs on the keyboard)…

I am enjoying my chocolate covered matzah. It’s actually really tasty as a snack.

But yeah, wish matzah made less of a mess with all those crumbs all over.

I always forget every year how crumb-y matzah is. It always come back to me at the Seder as I’m breaking up the matzah. I apologize to my cleaning lady for a messier house than usual.

Not tired of it yet… but I do my our Sunday morning fresh-from-the-bakery rolls and cinnamon danish!!! By the end we are happy to break, and usually go out for pizza or pasta.
Actually it is really not difficult, I don’t know why people complain so much. Today I had an egg white with tomato, whole wheat matzah with raspberry fruit spread, some fruit, two almond macaroons for breakfast. For lunch I had some grapes, kosher for passover babaganoush with matzah and some kosher for passover unsalted potato chips and I just had a carrot. I did also have two of the Barton’s dark chocolate matzeo crackers… those are just two good to pass up. We use Shmurah matzah for the seders and have just finished that up.

I was all set to get through this week with some nice matzo, legal spreads, fresh fruit and vegetables, broiled fish… aah, breathe in, breathe out! Sure I was planning to do some matzo brei tomorrow morning.

But I didn’t communicate well enough with my husband. He came home yesterday afternoon, having stopped in the grocery store. We now have boxes of those orange ring gells, canned expensive macaroons, matzo ball mix (didn’t he look in the pantry - I have 3 boxes sitting there already!).

I think he had a Pesach panic attack. But I’m not going to say a word. He has a right to express himself, too, in a misguided pantry sort of way. I’ve already enjoyed half a can of macaroons.

Happy Pesach to all!

Made matzoh brei (I add vanilla, cinnamon & top w/maple syrup) this am. Told S2 about the savory matzoh brei on the first link and may try that tomorrow. I am having serious carb cravings right now and Passover is not helping much. It needs to be finished so I can get back on my regular eating routine.

DH insisted on Wed. that five boxes of matzah was not enough to last eight days for three of us and sent me out to get more. I think we will have five boxes left at the end of the week. Good thing my dog likes matzah!

I bought two five-packs and we were wondering if it would be enough. One of the five-packs is still unopened. Supply isn’t as good up in NH as it is in the Boston area so we tend to overbuy. Looks like we’ll have it around for a few weeks. It solves my carbs before run problem though. I have a box in the office and can just grab one before a run (with lots of water).

BCEagle91, who is Jewish in your house?

Anybody? Or do you just like matzoh?
