Tisch or AADA HS summer camp?

Hello! I’m a HS junior and I don’t have much experience with acting (I didn’t seriously think about it as a career until the end of sophomore year). However, I have fully immersed myself in the Drama Club, musicals, and plays at my school.

My main concern is that Tisch is very expensive/ selective (although they’ve explicitly stated that they are more interested in level of interest than experience). I know it is super intensive, and that is definitely an aspect I’m looking for. Plus, I don’t have to audition, which is great!

For the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, I don’t know the reputation of the camp. Of course, it’s well-known that the academy itself is stellar. I can’t seem to get opinions on the camp from fully-informed people.

If anyone is in Dramatic Arts or knows of/ was in these camps, my questions are: are they both good? Which one is better?

What I want to take away from this camp is whether I’m cut out for a future in drama and I want to learn as much as I possibly can. Due to my late interest in the acting (not the arts in general), I’ve got this intense desire to devour all and any knowledge and teaching. Knowing this, do you think one of these camps is an ideal program for me?

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Personally, I would take a closer look at acting groups/ companies in my area. If you were able to land an internship or a small role in a professional group that’s WAY more valuable than going to a camp that’s basically pay-to-play. Of course, the amount of opportunities available depend on where you live. There are always rec centers too. I think you would learn a ton form being in/ working at a real production.

AADA is a summer intensive, not a summer camp. They don’t go swimming, eat together, and put on plays. Read the description carefully. Tish is very expensive, maybe because they offer credit? Anyway, maybe next year you could do that. The 2 or 5 week intensive can give you a lot of good training, access to mentors, and help you find out of this is really what you want to do. My daughter, 16, was accepted for the 2 week Session 3. CHeck it out.
