hehe, shoot.

That’s her CC name.

My mom makes me play the harmonium.

hmm Right??! Cause you did say meghnasridhar. No spaces in between. Sounds like a username. I’m smart xD

MAKES you play? BTW, harmonium is nice. I remember once playing Scientist by the Coldplay on the Harmonium at school, just for fun. Good times.

pixie, I thought it is easier to score high in math/sci than commerce.

btw, our robot team is doing very well - thanks to two people in the group who do most of the programming. One of them is a 3rd grader and the other is an 8th grader! It has been a blast guiding these kids.

itsmylife, playing piano is very relaxing indeed but I am not good at it. What kind of music do you play?

I used to tease Meghna a lot. She was very entertaining. I can not forget the way she cursed Nondorf @ UChicago for spoiling her essay. She threw a huge tantrum here on CC and NY Times wrote about it.

^^^^^^^what?! Tell us more about that incident, sultan!

I saw this on another thread,

Mother- “My D’s going to Bryn Mawr this Fall”
Mother’s well meaning friend- “She’s going to bryn mawr? Why, is she lesbian?”
Mother(After long pause)- “no”
Mother’s well meaning friend-" Well, tell her to be extra careful then!"

Though I like playing classical music too, my favorites are the ones I compose. Also, since I’m in a rock band, we perform mainly rock and alternative music at local gigs.

Here are the links to what I was talking about earlier.

This is the reason why I find this year’s class much more interesting. You guys are a talented bunch.

Itsmylife- Yes! :)

Tippu, you’re highly mistaken.
It’s very very easy to score in the Commerce stream as it’s all rote and the questions are all standard but in the sciences it’s a lot tougher. It is very difficult to get into the 90’s (though by no means impossible -it just needs double the amount of hard work than does a commerce subject).
See in the phy/chem tests any kind of question may come where you have to use your brain in a way you might not have done during practice questions unlike in the commerce stream where the same questions get repeated year after year.

Heres an example of the difference in comm/sci.
I have Econ. The comm stream has econ.
Econ is one of my easiest/I’m least bothered about subjects. Econ is the comm stream students most bothered about subject AFTER MATH. Math is their main worry!

I take around a day to do 10 chapters of Econ. While I take a day to do 2 chapters of physics and that is if I slog it away. Hope this helps. You are progressing well on your research on Indian students applying to US colleges.

The college cutoffs in Delhi University this year for Econ Honors(the most popular course atm) at St Stephens was 97.something(Comm stream) while for chem honors it was 94 (sciences).

On top of that, you have a statement of purpose and interview at stephens.

The UChic link you posted was hilarious xD
Stephen’s and SRCC’s cutoffs are ridiculously high.

They are Stephens and SRCC after all.
If I had known what I want to major in, I wouldn’t have given US colleges a second glance. The academia and people and training you get there is excellent!

Quite true. My dad’s still pained about the fact that I want to literally study an entire ocean away from my parents. He keeps mentioning Stephens and going “They have a great English program too you know…” I want to do a double major though, so no UK and India for me.

Double major in which two subjects?

This is my last post for this log. I vow to not post before I log into TiT 18 ver 2 again. There! A challenge for myself. Sure, the last public self challenge didn’t work out, but there’s always next time innit?
I should be getting on doing what I actually logged on to CC to do. And that is to write my why Brown essay. Which is the only 'Why this college" essay that I can actually think of something tangible/quirky/actually straight-from-the-heart to write about.

There’s this whole thread where '14ers that were accepted to UChic posted their essays. They’re all so mighty creative.

Pix-Double in English Language & Literature and Biological Sciences. Don’t ask me why, it warrants a very long explanation.
Jbubbles-Where is that post?
I suppose they would be, they are the sort of people who actually sat through and responded to UChic’s very quirky prompts.
