TiT#18 ver2

Wish you all the best. Ignore the proctor.

I do hope we do…Lol…I am quite easy to catch. Just search for an obese girl with a teak jacket and ponytail, that will be me. I think my name will stand out too, not many Meghna Pradhans out there.

Btw…how much did u score in prev. tests?

WHOA Meghna you live in Dwarka? I used to live there! Somewhere around Sec-12ish.
I’m doing Literature tmrw too. I’ve been practicing using PR. I hate the literature subject test despite English being one of my favorite subjects. The interpretation of Literature is so subjective, I hate having to choose a ‘correct’ answer from the 5. I have a feeling it won’t go very well tmrw.
I’m also doing Bio M. Tomorrow’s the last time I’m doing the SATs, then I do the ACT next week and then I’m done with standardized testing for the rest of my life I hope.

^^^ Thanks Tippu. I think I’ll just enter early and sit at the back if there’s no naming system.

^^Hey, take your name off. It’s not a good idea to reveal your identity. Just EDIT the post.

So nemo, you aren’t going to do a masters (GRE) or MBA (GMAT)?

I meant for now. I will do the GRE duh, and I’m not sure if I’ll do an MBA yet. I’ll think about that once I’m in Junior/Senior year in Uni.
Trying to write my TOK essay right now. I’m failing to come up with a valid counter claim. It’s due on Monday. cue image of a sinking ship

Hahah you’re right Arunemo. I love love love literature, and reading, but and I also enjoy creative writing…but I could never possibly think of doing a career in it since it is such a subjective field. And it never guarantees success.
And English classes at my school are very competitive and hard!

How would you like to look over an essay for me?

I might do creative writing, but as a side option and not as my major focus…hence why my first choice is Communications and Journalism.
IB English is crazy. Only about 2% of the candidates around the world get a 7. It’s harder in Higher Level. I still love the subject though.
What’s the essay about bubbles? PM it if you wish.

Northwestern, UPenn, Columbia, and Boston Uni are great J/C schools.

And it’s on Their Eyes are Watching God.

Pixie, you’re such a funny girl

Send it along then. I just looked it up, it’s a book on an African American woman right?

Yes…I still have yet to finish it! Haha, but I’ll send it ASAP. PM me with your e-mail.

Oh, and it’s an amazing book. You should read it.

What does English IB test?

Well I’m in A1 English, which is meant for native speakers. It mainly concentrates on Literary Analysis and not so much on creative writing. We have to read 15 texts in 2 years from 4 different categories and analyze them the way a critic would. In addition, we have to practice writing commentaries on poems and pieces of prose and analyze them down to the last word. There isn’t much creative writing in A1 English, it’s more of a very technical critical analysis of pieces of English writing. I believe A2 English has more Creative writing elements in the curriculum.

[IB Sample exam papers](http://www.ibo.org/diploma/assessment/exampapers/)

School/teacher rating suffers when predicted score is uniformly higher. Teachers in our school tend to be harder than IB grader. Perhaps this is the reason why our school always appears near the top of every list.

I love St. Mark’s in Texas.

The link should clear it up, those are the sort of questions we’re tested on bubbles.
Top of which list?
Do you do Chemistry HL btw? Easily my hardest subject.

Guys do me a favor and help me with this petition-
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/324792-im-starting-petition.html

nemo, no i didn’t take IB chem.

Lists I am talking about are high school rankings. (These are important for public schools. School or school district rankings matter a lot in the US. Funding for schools is somewhat proportional to property taxes raised in its neighborhood or school district. Property values go up if schools are good. This is a vicious circle - one of the reasons why schools in poorer neighborhoods end up suffering.)

Ah I see. I thought it was a list released by the IB or such. I understand what you mean by vicious cycles though. It happens pretty much everywhere. Being in an international school helps you escape that.
Alright Tippu, if you don’t mind me asking what would you consider a reasonable counter argument to the claim that Science believes in the provisional nature of its conclusions? I’m trying to think of a personal example but I’m hitting a wall, I was hoping someone could perhaps spark inspiration here.

Guys, I’m applying Early Decision to NYU.
