Good for you! If only I had the conviction and foresight to apply early somewhere
Youāre still a junior though arenāt you? Youāre got it all planned out huh. What do you think youāll major in?

TOK? Reading Michael Shermer? I need to think about that.

Haha you really know your TOK. Respect.
Weāre not reading him, weāve just finished our unit on Human and Natural Sciences and we were assigned a few topics for essays. I chose the one with his quote (the exact quote is-What separates science from all other human activities is its belief in the provisional nature of all conclusions) and I have to critically evaluate his claim. I have plenty of arguments for it, but I need a solid example to counter it.

Iām doing ED II, so I can still apply to my RD schools. Iāll get the acceptance mid Feb, soooo Iām happy about that. :)

I would go to NYU if I donāt get into Harvard, Stanford, Duke, Cornell, etc.

NYU is actually my 2nd choice. And once I do get accepted (if I do get accepted), Iāll just tell em I have to wait around to see if I can afford it, and if I get into Harvard, Cornell, Stanford, etc., Iām just going to tell them I canāt afford NYU.

Sounds like a plan.

NYU, pleaseeeeeeeeee accept me. :)

I will shoot myself if I donāt get into NYU at least.

What confidence. Well you could certainly say that about places like Penn State and SUNY Buffalo, but not with a top 30 university man. No one can.

Oh and just BTW, you need to show considerable financial proof from the bank etc and your property/assets etc to prove that you really canāt pay⦠And someone who goes to a $40k per year high school {and with your economic condition which I know about} most certainly cannot show that proof.

So if you get in, youāre bound.

So am I, with my ED institution.

Thought Iād bring that out there.

Kay?

Read everything before you make comments like that. NYU is considered a safety by really high-stat applicants though. That is undeniable. NYU may be competitive for intlās but not for strong, domestic applicants.

And Iām not rich guys! Seriously. My parents have a lot of expenses so itās not like I can pay my way through everything.

I feel like Iāve been granted bail from Guatemala. :)

Sigh. I also get added topping of dance class! :D

I think I was a bit wonky in the head yesterday.

Lol wtv. You canāt say āoh no I canāt afford it sorry better luck next timeā and shrug your shoulders. 3-|

NYU may be considered a safety by many high-stat applicants but you unfortunately donāt belong among them so yeah :P

āxāxāxāxā TOPIC CLOSED --xāxāxāxāxāxāxāxāx-

Guys, chill. I donāt know why you guys are always at each otherās throats, but please, letās Stop in the name of love.
Bad Motown jokes aside, seriously guys forgive and forget. Itās holiday season, what better time to make a new start?
Although Aniruddh does have a point bubbles, I doubt youāll be able to just say you canāt afford it anymore unless (God forbid) some terrible tragedy occurs. When you apply ED you have to give all the records of your financials and itāll be near impossible to wriggle out of the contract with no legit reason. If itās your second choice, why not apply EA? Thatās more practical surely?

Yeahhhhh letās stop (:

Thatās exactly the point I was trying to make. Itās called a BINDING PLAN for a reason, man.

Lol Aniruddh always tries to start with me because heās mad at me.

I can say I canāt afford it because all the expenses my dad has. Heās building a temple for godās sake. You know how much money that costs? And my bro/sis will be attending 40k private schools as well.

Sorry if I seem like Iām boasting, but I wanted to get my point across.

I know I got around it for high schoolā¦I told this amazing private school I couldnāt afford it and they said AW OKAY, WE WISH U THE BEST OF LUCK blah blah blah.

And, all right, whatever. Iām happy with NYU, anyway.

And arunemo, it doesnāt have EA.

Anirrudh, just because you canāt call NYU a safety doesnāt mean I canāt. My counselor even said if I continue to do all the things I do, it is a safety. I know it doesnāt guarantee anything but still. And honestly, I think I know more about NYU admissions than you. You act as if itās this super-prestigious, impossibly, Ivy-like school to get into. Like no, itās not that cutthroat at all.

Donāt talk, cause you are clueless.

Btw I love how you try to make GTech such a competitive school to get into! Honestly.

Hahaha, it has 59 % acceptance rate! And tell us where you got those factsā¦um 3.99 average gpa and 2118 avt sat?

Go on, show us your sources.

[Georgia Institute of Technology :: Undergraduate Admission :: Quick Facts](<a href=āBlow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admissionā>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission) - This is what I got off the website.
Donāt make an excuse saying itās last yearās profile or something like that. If Georgia Tech really does have this yearās stats already, show us. I doubt they calculate after one round.

BURN.

Meghna- I didnāt get to see you! Although I did look around for a teak jacket. I should have been quite easy to spot though. I was the one who wore too many layers of clothes for her own good.
I feel so free now. No more testing!

Arunemo and Tippu- I envy you guys! IB seems to be the best system ever. TOK looks awesome! So do English sample papers. I wish CBSE english was like that. Itās not even worthy of being called english in front of IB.

Good lord, Iām so mean. Anyway, let that be the end.

Sorry for any emotional damage caused Aniruddh.

Sup guys?

Lol dumbass, ever heard of self-selection? Ever heard of people not applying to Tech because it is mainly a hardcore engineering school?

And I obviously wasnāt lying about those facts you wh o re, check this link out:

[Admission Buzz | Facebook](Facebook)

Georgia Tech Office of Undergraduate Admission
Admission Buzz is early this week because itās a short week around here for the Thanksgiving holiday. The long holiday couldnāt come at a better time, as everyone in our office is in need of a rest and recharge before we dive into the next round of admission decisions. But, before we leave, I wanted to share a recap of the first round:

Applications ā 4484 (up 14.6% from Early Action for fall 2010)

Applicant Averages
3.80 GPA
2022 SAT

Admitted Student Averages
3.99 GPA
2118 SAT

As you can see, applications are on the rise again this year. However, I want to caution those of you who have yet to apply not to be discouraged by these numbers. This round is traditionally where we see our strongest group of applicants, as students are applying in time for scholarship consideration. Also, please remember that what you are seeing here is only the numeric factors. We continue to place great value on the rigor of a studentās curriculum (through senior year), the level of involvement in school and community and the personal essay. All of these factors combine together to help us make the best possible decisions.

I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving and eat plenty of turkey!
about a week ago Ā· Report

Call up their fuc king undergraduate admissions office. The acceptance rate for internationals is a mere 31%

Iām sure youād already know that GT is in the ranks of CMU, Stanford, etc. for engineering and no one applies to GT just for the heck of it anyway because itās not AS prestigious as a Stanford or Berkeley which are good for so many other things as well.

I donāt really care if you know more about NYU admissions or whatever since I kind of have a life beyond all this and Iām nearing the end of my admissions process (I am only applying to 2 more schools!) so I frankly donāt give half a ratās as s about what you know about admissions and what you donāt since it all depends on your GPA (paramount importance), ECs, essays, recos (not so much imp) and not to mention the SAT and you have a crap GPA of what 3.3 or something and you think an HYP can take you in because you read some random posts on CC which said that someone with a 3.34 wtv GPA got into Columbia etc. and you take it that you can get in as well even though you donāt know their whole profile, their circumstances, essays, passions, etc. They most certainly donāt evaluate your obsession and knowledge about the admissions process though I know that I am fairly well-informed about almost every top 50 college so yeah.

Stop making false allegations against me. Get a life. Seriously.

Way harsh guys. This is ridiculous. I donāt know why youāre sore, and I donāt want to know either but please lay off each other? Both of you. Itās Christmas and lets not spoil the mood. If WW1 soldiers could call a truce on Christmas, Iām pretty freaking sure you guys can too.

Ha Pixie, IB looks all fine and dandy when looking in from the outside but wait till youāre stuck with World Literature first drafts and final drafts, 15 minute orals, English Paper 2 exams, TOK presentations, the final TOK essayā¦I suppose itās all for our own good in the end but tbh Iāve said f^*k you IB far too many times. Every IB student has, believe me.
Then again, Iām glad Iām doing this. I actually like TOK. Many of my friends will strongly disagree with me however, and will emphatically state that TOK is $h^t. Such is school.

IB is brutal. It really is. I have many close friends who are IB students and they donāt get any time because of all the annoying assignments etc! :|

TOK is nice⦠Iāve read my friendās TOK textbook⦠Interesting stuff!

Yes. Thereās this really common joke that goes around that proceeds as follows:
- Good grades.
- Enough sleep.
- Social Life.
In the IB you can only choose 2 of the above.
