Hello everyone.
So I got high just thinking about sugary stuff and after that I had a lot of sweet stuff and after that nothing could stop me from coming back to normal mode. ![]()
Plus I just got an amazing wallpaper of Sesshoumaru. ;)

Going to the USA isn’t easier.

Oooh pixie, nice. I was skimming through some fairytail pics, and I got a really cool pic of Bisca ad Mirajane. Man, what I wont give to get a figure like theirs. It would be like ‘Sau khoon maaf’ situation.

Thank Luce…I hope I do achieve that goal to make her happy…my mum is not easily impressed (abt some stuff)

Ani, I know that getting in US isnt easier. But Indian University standards are ridiculous. On top of that, the so called rules are just superficial. I know a girl who is in Delhi Uni. She got in there with just about 84% in arts, and calls that the studies there are just ‘Time pass’. What do u expect me to think of Indian Uni after this.

I am applying for DU and Punjab Uni…but none else.

Ok so I read this whole thread when I should be working on Vectors right now. But wtv.
IB > CBSE + ICSE. Jus sayin’ ![]()
Not that it makes it any less pedantic, however. A well known side effect of the IB is immunity to caffeine.
I laughed at the binary joke. And I’m not even majoring in anything remotely tech. Nerd alert?
I’m applying to the US because their application system seems fairer to me. I like the fact that they actually bother to look beyond numbers as opposed to India or to an extent the UK. Also, I love the flexibility you have in the States-the fact that I can do a double major in 2 almost completely unrelated subjects and do multiple minors and what not is so unimaginable in India. I like having the freedom to diversify and dabble in many different things.

No one disagrees to “IB > CBSE + ICSE” btw :P

App system fairer? Indeed. :|

as far as App system being fairer, we need to define what a fair App system should be. There are so many subjective elements in the US application such as essays, recommendations, ECs (how do you appreciate the relative value of ECs?) etc. that to me the admission system looks totally arbitrary, or maybe it is more accurate to say that colleges admit whoever they want to admit. Compared to a system which is based purely on objective numbers, there is no obligation on the college side which is a huge difference.
But again, we could debate for ever on this unless there is an agreement on what “fair system” means

hello everyone
ciao

feels like being annoying
^You’re still there ansrox.

Purposely annoying people is a lot of fun. You guys should try it.

0-1, 14-2, 28-3.
Wow. I didn’t think sitting down for a spot of tv with grandpa would be so much fun.

The US has so much more available to study. You live on gorgeous campuses with people from around the world. You can do internships, research etc. etc. Then there’s the freedom (and responsibility)that comes with living in another country. Plus, my EC’s will not go waste as they would here.
Why wouldn’t people apply?

How was your Sports Day Pixie? and I didn’t get the numbers mean exactly.

Oh and CBSE>IB. This is futile though. I fight with my IB friends about it all the time.

In what way is CBSE > IB?

Kaira- Those are cricket scores for New Zealand. I’m not much of an enthusiast, but my grandfather (and grandmother?) is a diehard fan.
And I didn’t go. My trophy has a tiny guy with spiky hair(why?) and my name is spelled wrong for the umpteenth time.

Ani- Like Kaira said, let’s not get into course curriculum debates. From what I’ve seen, the physics seems to be the same, math a lot easier/less, english tougher.

Those are cricket scores Kaira. I generally do not watch the sport but my gradfather’s a diehard fan.
I didn’t go. My trophy has a tiny guy with spiky hair on it and my name is spelled wrong. For the umpteenth time.

Ani- As kaira said, lets not get into it.

I thought it was a SAT math question: find the next element of the series 0-1, 14-2, 28-3.
The answer would be 42-4 ;)

My IAIS-English results came up today…got a distinction…wonder if it is an accomplishment or not…

The link below has nothing to do college admissions but I thought some of you will find it interesting.

Don’t fail to notice that Ron Paul is a Republican from Texas.

Luceverita-Your post on the subjectivity of ‘fairness’ was interesting. Yes, UK admissions can seem more objective. But at the end of the day, any college in the UK or the US can reject whoever they want, especially the highly selective ones. The fairness of it all can be debated to no end. I guess that’s what makes people choose one system over the other, their idea of what seems fair-a more objective, grade focused selection criteria as seen with UK unis, or one that takes into account more subjective aspects of an applicant as seen in the US.
This is such a TOK-ish type of debate, I should probably bring it up in class!

Here are a few snaps I took when I visited a university recently in connection with a programming contest: [college visit 12/11/2010](http://www.troovi.com/gcDsN7xwKhVj#aECVZYOIhL9L)
