Yes I am aware it’s the truth. I’m sorry to hear you had to experience that. Although I haven’t seen it myself, I know incidents like that do occur in India and elsewhere. It angers me and makes me sick and it makes me feel worse that I can’t do much (presently) to change it. I would go on, but everyone will hate me for going on a random feminist rant so I’ll hold my thoughts.
Ha good luck with that. It’s a great book. I actually saw the movie before the book, and there was this particular scene which was a bit brutal in the movie. Turns out, I’d misunderstood the scene in the movie and in the book it turned out to be way way worse :S
Ttyl people. Gotta finish Othellooo :(

Lol…I am no feminist, believe me. I dun like injustice…ever. I was too young, may be about 9 or 10 wen I saw first case of domestic violence. A woman had run all the way from Hyderabad with her children. Her folks didn’t take her in, so do u know what she did? she ordered some tea from the inn, mixed synide in it, and gave it to her children. As soon as the man who owned the inn saw the children fall, he immediately raised alarm, and called the medical personnel. My dad was supervisor in that hospital, and the pediatrician there. He told children were dead, and they rounded the woman to ask her. She asked she wanted to go to loo, and papa consented, sending in another person to make sure she didn’t flee. When she didn’t come out, the man stationed outside called up ANM to help him break the door. Inside, they found the woman dead…she had a small paper in which she had wrapped synide in her hands. Later, when her stuff was checked out, they traced her parents, who told what had happened. Dad told mum, who used to confide me in about anything she was unsettled about. I did not understand the concept back then, but I still remembr the way she told me, with her eyes watery as tho she wud cry any moment (my mum used to cry a lot), so i figured it must be imp. Now wen I look back…I feel horrible for the woman and her children…

What a horrible story Meghna!
It seems humans are similar across all continents: unnecessarily brutal and crual. Other animals kill to feed themselves but only humans can deliberately make other people suffer for an ‘idea’.

Thanks aniruddh! What decisions on 17th??

Meghna: Domestic violence is your favorite subject to read??

^Followed by Multiple Personality Disorder? That’s creepy.

Pixie, best of luck tonight

Best of luck again, pixxieeee! Well I obviously can’t say “you’ll obviously get in” since its Yale/crapshoot for anybody/reach for everyone, but my blessings are with you (I sound so godly yay)

I do sincerely hope that you get in!

and me. :(

Lol.u guys make me seem like I really am a freak. Its just that, I believe when you want to fight something, u need to understand it in depth. That is why I tend to read up on every article I can get on domestic violence. And MPD…well pix have you seen colourcloud palace? If you have, then you will know one of the characters has MPD, which surfaces when he is drunk. Then I read the novel ‘Tell me your dreams’ by Sydney Sheldon, and these two combined piqued my interest. I started reading up on it. I wanted to be a psychologist wen I was young, after I saw a very close relative of mine being diagnosed with schizophrenia…but like other things, it remained unfulfilled. And I read some pretty cool stuff too, like mythology, fantasy and historic novels. (Lol, I am a major history fan)

good luck Kaira !

Luceverita and Aniruddh- Thank you! Um…you guys forgot Kaira!

Kaira- Don’t mind them. Luce didn’t wish me best of luck for my Dec SAT until I reminded her and that went very well. So it’s a good omen!
And aniruddh is one of my favorite friends here on CC and I don’t think he even bothered to wish me for Dec SAT. So it’s all good. :)

prods aniruddh
Hoy! You wish Kaira, you!

^^Oh, just saw that!

Meghna- No! I didn’t mean to make it sound like that at all and I’m sorry if it seemed condescending in any way. I personally don’t read much of such literature because it makes me depressed. Also I don’t like sobbing my way through novels. So they wouldn’t be in my top list. Everyone is entitled to their own choices and I respect yours.
History novels eh? Philippa Gregory? I find her portrayal of english aristocracy to be very vivid and interesting. I had this craze for her stuff and raided nearby bookstore on this birthday
And plus you’re not a freak. Anyone who watches as much anime as you do is not entitled to being a freak. :)

Pixie, but I did wish Kaira good luck before your post! ( I didn’t know she was applying scea to yale). And I am a ‘he’ not a ‘she’. It is just that you like to call me with this feminine name.

Thank you all!
Pixieee, how are you feeling? I’m feeling ahkgdyabgvuhavbv. That’s as close as I can get to describing it.
Luce- I assumed you were a girl too cause of the name. :stuck_out_tongue: Sorry. :)

^^Whh whh aa what?
You’re a guy?
stunned silence (big thing for me on CC atleast. waits a minute before typing again)

Yes, I just saw that.
No. NO?
This proves that a person’s style of talking doesn’t betray his/her gender.

I think I know how the others must have felt when they realized arunemo is a girl.

I always thought arunemo was a girl. :/

lol

Yes, I realize that the username can be confusing. But it’s Yale!

^^Kaira, I’m feeling kinda calm. I’m actually doing my essays atm!
I think it’s because I’m not as passionate about Yale as you are.
But don’t worry, you’re normal! I just keep fluctuating. You’re constant.
(came back from physics finally)

Pixie, I am worried: maybe I am too feminine ? I swear, I like girls :)

Why did you choose such a feminine username Luceverita? It sounds like some exotic spanish female name.
