<p>Oh I got my ACT score back-30 composite. I don’t think that’s too bad, considering it was my first time with no prep and the fact that I suck in standardized testing in general.</p>

I knew my mind wouldn’t let the idea go. Who said wacky essays couldn’t be meaningful?
I wrote some gibberish on Noddy and HP a month ago thinking it was the bomb. The next day= reject (because it hardly made sense). Today when I read it again, I clubbed it with another piece I wrote, and voila! I have an essay that makes sense and is I think my most meaningful essay! I love it. :)</p>

Today, some1 tells mum that some US whack shot an Indian Software engineer to death. And my mum blew up the second I entered my house after a complete mess of a Accounts Viva in school. She was all about ho if I get killed like that, or something worse happens, or may b she gets a heart attack or something, who will b with her and stuff. I reminded mum that her uncle-aunt are also here. But she raved on and on and on. Urghhh…My college app list has dwindled from a whopping 8 colleges to 3. Mum says that if I dun get in a good college with scholarship, I will hav to wait till next year, or sh will send me to Bangalore or may b Kolkata to do econ studies (Its hopeless to think abt DSE with an average grades-scorer like me)</p>

<p>Meghna-I’m sorry to hear that. But you’re going to have to convince your mother that she can’t keep imagining scenarios like that. Yes, it’s scary for you to move to a new continent thousands of miles away with no family. And yes, doubts will inevitably creep up. But there is absolutely no way you can live while imagining dire situations like the above. These things are beyond your control and there is no point obsessing over ‘What if?’, and you and your mother have to come to terms with that if you want to study abroad. So calm down and don’t freak out. Btw, which colleges are you applying to?
About your essay, I’ll work on it tonight. I’m really sorry, it’s just I have several essays to finish and I’m really busy this whole week. But I will get to it, I swear.</p>
