@ Bubbles I hav already applied to stony brook in SUNY. But the prob is the oans there require a US cosigner (i think thats wat it was). I m stumped there…rest is fine with app. I am submitting it as soon as Arun revies my essay

Meghna-I didn’t get your email! Are you sure it got sent? Do you mind checking again?
R-That is brilliant news! Keep us posted (and none of your deleting-posts-after-I-write-them-because-the-others-don’t-care-about-my-existence nonsense).
Pixie-That is WAY harsh. Seriously? In my school, some people stop caring about their final IB exams after getting admitted and score way lower than predicted. The colleges didn’t particularly care though.

^Haha brilliant Aniruddh. We’re planning on doing something like that for my grandparent’s 50th Anniversary in February-we’re throwing a surprise party and flying in without telling them :D

Tubelight lights up in the brain Wait…Pixie, u gt a deferral in Yale??? Wait another minute…U appied to Yale? As in THE YALE!!!
Guys I fee so insignificant in front of ya all…u r so smart. O.o
Umm deferral means u still hav a chance ryt? They will b absolutely nuts if they let go good indian students like u.

LMAO. When did I say that? I just said I was pretty sure people didn’t want to hear about my terrible first two weeks of december haha. Plus, I didn’t wanna talk about my acceptance after I saw others had been rejected by their Early choices. It just seemed really, really insensitive. :/

It was funny how you still got that post though! :O

You can send me the PM now, I just cleared my inbox. The 50 message limit sucks.

12/19 essays edited in one night! Am I superman or what? :p

Haha I know. I was just exaggerating as per usual-don’t mind
I’ve signed up for email notifications, so I sometimes get notified when people post. For some reason or the other, it’s usually your covert posts.

R-It says your inbox isn’t clear. Did you get some new msgs just now?

Aniruddh, that really sounds like the best christmas present ever! ^_^

Ani and PD- That guy had straight As throughout. After the second sem, he got some/one? B(s). He got a letter saying something along the lines of “we have noticed from your transcript that your academic performance has suffered since we last saw your grades. Please provide us with an explanation of why this has happened otherwise we may be forced to reconsider your acceptance.” (They also specifically mentioned the B[s]). Bdw, this user was a SCEA acceptee.
This is Yale. Plus he had a good academic record throughout. Anyway, from what I hear, getting an A in America isn’t that hard. About the same amount of work as getting a 75+ in india.
However, Ani there’s hope! A girl from Delhi who got into P’ton, had a predicted score of around 95% and she actually got around 85-86% aggregate. Yet, they didn’t take back the offer. Why don’t you check around in JNS?

Meghna- Yes, I did. Yes, I have the same chance as the other RDers.

Hi guys! Hope you all had a wonderful break!

Meghna- good luck!
Pton- you’re so sweet! I’m sure you’ll be a fine addition to Stanford! There’s also another Indian Etonian there from your “block!” Lol! Don’t ya love how I know this?!

Pixie- uhm, that’s not necessarily true! It depends on the school.

Arunemo - that is a fab idea! And 50 yrs?! Good for them! Haha my grandparents wanted a divorce so many times but were too lazy to get one lol.

I’m in Miami as I write to you all! Haha. So warmmm - even in December!

So just when i was about to submit my HMC supplement …
To my horror …
I saw that there’s another essay I have to write …
Completely missed one question and wrote just one essay…

Had already made up my mind for this last application that I was submitting… No more apps … no more essays … And then this … sigh
I guess 1 more day now …

I guess it kinda gets tough for int’ls to write abt the ‘why college’ essay without actually visiting it/ knowing it better …
I mean, I often end up writing those generic ‘unparalleled-reputation-research-faculty’ kind of essays and not have that personal touch in them …

^I think it’s also important to convey how that school will help develop your passions, interests, etc. and what you also have to offer that school and somehow show what you can offer them & and what they can offer you that make the school a perfect match.
