Titanic II ?

"Australian billionaire Clive Palmer has unveiled his blueprints for Titanic II, a replica of the ill-fated cruise ship that succumbed to an iceberg in 1912 and, in the wake of that tragedy, became an object of fascination for generations.

Palmer may be more fascinated by the Titanic than James Cameron. He and his team, including main designer Markku Kanerva, will attempt to build a ship that is virtually indistinguishable from the original. Plans are to sail Titanic II across the Atlantic in in 2016. Everyone on board the cruise will be required to wear period attire.
News of the Titanic II has been received with awe, snark and a little bit of fear for those pesky Atlantic icebergs. As HuffPost Live asked yesterday (starting at 1:35 in the video above), will Titanic II be safe? According to the Guardian, Palmer says not to worry. Due to climate change, he says, “There are not so many icebergs in the North Atlantic these days.” Titanic II will, however, have enough lifeboat and life raft capacity to handle all of the 2,435 passengers and 900 crew members.

What else will Titanic II have? Three classes of passengers who will not mingle."

He really thinks people will want to sail on a ship named Titanic?

I think I will pass.

He really cites the fact that there are fewer icebergs in the Atlantic now than in 1912 as proof that his ship is safe, as if iceberg collisions are the only thing that could cause a ship to sink?

If this ship is made in China i think i’ll pass.

What else will titanic II have? Enough lifeboats:)

This has got to be the dumbest thing ever.

I thought this was going to be about another movie and I was going to say
nooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! ;)

LOL. Too much. Really. It will be interesting to see, that’s for sure.

Counting on “global warming” to make the ship impervious to iceburgs. This guy sounds like perfect owner for a ship called Titanic! :)

It is built to be any safer than the original, it will not be an “authentic replica”. If it will be identical, we all know how it could end… I think I’ll pass the free tickets offer. :)

Yes, I thought it was a movie and I was wondering how Titanic could have a sequel??

^^The search for that infamous jewel, complete with deep water dive robots, submarine pirates, undercover agents, US Navy, shootouts, a stolen nuke, etc. Just throw some crazy stuff together - there is no shortage of people who will watch anything. :)

I have this horrified fascination with what happend to those poor people, I would never sale on such a thing. I saw on tv the billionaire wants to spend his money before he dies. I have some good ideas…

It would be a nice gesture on the part of Carnival Cruise Lines to pick up tab and all expenses…for the passengers who endured the recent horrible cruise on Carnival’s Triumph ship floating for days without power or working toilets… for a makeup trip on the maiden voyage of the Titanic II. Carnival would get a lot of extra publicity putting these people on the Titanic II.

Oh Lizard. That made me spit on my computer!
