Hi everyone,
I’m looking for honest advice from anyone who has successfully transferred after a rough academic start.
A few years ago, I overloaded classes and made poor academic decisions. My cumulative GPA across all institutions (when fully recalculated) is in the high 1.x range. Since then, I’ve stabilized, reduced my course load, and shown a clear upward trend.
I’m finishing a Florida AA degree this semester and performing much stronger academically now.
I’m applying to several Florida state universities for Fall admission. I understand that a sub-2.0 GPA can place someone into appeal territory, but I’m hoping the completed AA and upward trend help demonstrate growth.
For anyone who’s been in a similar position:
-
Has anyone transferred successfully with a very low cumulative but strong recent performance?
-
How much does a completed Florida AA actually help in practice?
-
For those who went through appeals, what strengthened your case?
I’m not looking for reassurance — just real experiences from people who’ve rebuilt after a rough start.
Appreciate any insight.
