TJ vs. Exeter

This is hypothetical - neither I nor anyone I know is trying to make a choice between the two great schools. This is symbolic - TJ represents the best magnet schools and Exeter represents the best boarding schools in the country. I realize this discussion may not be fair to TJ lovers because they may have less presence than Exeter lovers, but personally I am more interested in why (reasons not emotions) people would choose Exeter over TJ. So here are the discussion topics:

Assuming you are accepted (or potentially can be accepted) to both schools, which one would you choose and why?

Assuming #1 plus money is no concern (Exeter offers plenty of its students full FA), which one would you choose and why?

Assuming #1 and #2 plus Exeter is a day school located right across the street from TJ, which you have easy access to, which one would you choose and why?

What are you, some kind of sadist? :)

Noooooo, neato. Last thing I want to be… Well I believe for most people it’s an easier choice than a choice between Andover and Exeter - I just want to hear reasons. Not that we need to make that kind of choice everyday. Thaat’s why it’s hypothetical.

Exeter: I like boarding schools much more than public schools(even if it’s magnet). Boarding schools tend to be more supportive and friendly. Also, I know many people from PEA, but no one from TJ.

Exeter(same as #1)

idk

I would choose exeter because it is a bs. but since that is not an option- exeter again b/c doesn’t TJ specialize in science/math? I’m more of a Humanities person

Yeah I could’ve applied to TJ although I would’ve had to move 1 county over. I didn’t because I’m very much a humanities person although I like science. I have friends who go there

I would have a hard time deciding between the two. I love the research opportunities that TJ has but I like the boarding part of exeter. I feel that Exeter is more well-rounded and don’t think I will like to take all my classes with a connection to science, even though I am a math/science oriented kid.

I hate how TJ is a magnet school, so only like people from the area get to go there. If there was this kind of school close-by to my house, I would strongly consider both options.

I hate how Exeter is a private school so only rich people can go there.

Katniss7, I hate how Exeter doesn’t offer financial aid too! What stingy dudes.

I have a totally guileless question: What is the ethnic/socio economic diversity of TJ?

Thomas Jefferson (parents wouldn’t pay for it)

Exter (chance of a lifetime)

Exter (This is a new experience that I have never tried before. It could possibly be the best time in my life.)
